Awesome Graphics and great gameplay
Thank you so much!
Awesome Graphics and great gameplay
There are pretty good elements of story for a jam game, the fact that you explain why you need to jump all the way up there and also interactions with NPCs is a really nice touch. Jumping part is a bit hard, I feel like first platforms could of been easier, but balancing is often a mess in jam games. Pretty cool that you can see all those platforms from the island you're starting on, gives you sense of how hard the goal is and makes reaching that peak so much more satisfying.
Thanks for the feedback! I will definitely work on balancing the difficulty a bit more :D
I liked the ideia of the jumping improving on eating food, nice touch with adding a plot and dialog.
Thanks!
Good, tight movement. Jumping off moving platforms on to small targets is difficult, though, but I don't think thats down to the movement. I didn't really see the jump energy mechanic come into play
Thanks so much for the feedback! :D
It's a cool concept. The controls are alright. A few seconds after leaving the snowy platform, I had to stop since the spinning made me nauseous.
It took me a while to figure out that there were apples and bananas in the beginning that I could eat. It was not obvious at first because all parts of the level have bright vivid colours and the food blended in really well, perhaps too well.
The ramp on the first snowy platform didn't seem to have a proper collider- I had to use a jump despite it being a slope. My jump energy was refilled with food later but I was still a bit stingy about it. You may want to avoid those inconsistencies in level design.
Floating platform games are pretty fun in general when executed right. If you have the time, I strongly recommend that you checkout a youtube video titled "Super Mario 3D World's 4 Step Level Design" by Game Maker's Toolkit. They cover the design principles that make the platforms in the 3D Mario game work.
Your game has good potential and with further polish, it can be more enjoyable. Good luck!
This is really great feedback. I also encourage you to see that video (and also the rest of the content of the channel wich is free gamedev gold)
Thank you for the feedback! Will definitely check out the youtube video, and also fix the collider problem with the ramp. I looked through the level and saw that the same problem was a few other places, so thanks for pointing it out :D
Yeah vsync should have been turned on the game was running at 300fps for me lol, i also couldn’t get over the second jump :(
Thanks for trying it out! I'll remember to turn vsync on next time or in a future update :D
Pretty good platformer. Very difficult but I like a bit of difficulty.
Thank you! :D
Challenging platformer but plays smoothly. Took me too long to realize the camera rotates with the mouse. Does make my pc make a few strange noises, pretty sure that's an unreal thing. Well done
Thank you! Apparently Unreal does that, I have no idea why :/
Very difficult but fun! The player controller is really nice, good job with the 'islands' as well!
Thank you!! :D
That's the second unreal game I launch and my computer just go VRVRVRVRVVRVRVRV :(, so I guess it's the unreal engine doing that and not really your fault, but I prefer to tell you.
Anyway, I stopped playing because goddamn I don't know why but on the platform I got sick, my head really didn't like it, so I guess the rotation feeling is perfect haha. (I have motion sickness :p)
And it wasn't just rotating for rotating, it felt good, just TOO good for my brain :p.
I liked the vibe and the feeling of the game, the concept seemed simple but the control was good enough to appreciate it, and then, well, I got sick so :D.
Oh dang, didn't know unreal would be like that, sorry :(
I totally get what you mean about the motion sickness, it does mess with the brain a bit :D
Hope you didn't get too sick from it! Thanks for playing :)
I just to be clear, I played some game where rotation was way too much and I just quit the game, but here it's just, it felt too real for my brain that it was like "what are you doing up here, just get back down!". So the feeling was nice!
Grumpy Pete and the Lost Key has a really fun vibe to it, and the controls are pretty good. For the most part every time I failed I felt like it was my own fault. The level design kinda reminds me of a Roblox Obby. That said, if there were more elements in the level (spikes, lasers, etc) it would’ve added some good variety. Good work.
Thank you! Those are some really good ideas, might add them in the future :D
Finished it, I didn't find it very hard like others, maybe the last section with small red platforms was a bit challenging. Good job!
Thank you so much! So happy that you took the time to finish it, glad you liked it :D
Congrats on your first jam!
I love 3D platformers and have played a lot of them! This one is hard as nails though, even when making sure to max jump power. That was an interesting idea though. But I wound up mostly frustrated unfortunately.
A little tuning of the jumps would have made for a much better experience.
Appreciate the ambition, however
Thank you for the feedback! I was excited to hear how hard people found it, so I'll have to change it up a bit later :D
Hey everyone! This is a 3D platformer with added difficulty by using rotation. I hope you enjoy, as this is my first game jam!
