I know this comment will come a little bit late as this game jam's over. but i have to say that it's pretty cool as well as being both easy and challenging at the same time. that's some kind of charm. i'd love to play this on smartphones.
No, it's never too late for comments! Thanks for playing the game after jam is finished as well!
Glad you like it. : )
haha, i'm a non-game dev, i just came here because my long-time crush participated in this game jam. but it's pretty cool that i get to try a bunch of new games including yours. your visual arts (presentation) really impress me. hope you'll keep having fun making games.
Your comment is appreciated even if you are not a game dev. : )
Hope to see your submission in the next Kenney jam then, I think there are many developers who are doing this for the first time (including my team).
Again, really glad you like the visual, the artist in my team puts good efforts into "making" them. xD
It's a memory game with great visuals. I like the overall presentation of the game. As you probably know, this game will be more replayable if there is a function to randomly place tiles. you did a great job.
Yeah, thanks, man. We will consider it. If it does, that would be funnier in level design.
Ahhh, randomly place tiles sound interesting, not sure if my scripting skill would keep up with that tho.
Currently, we only have tiles set up as prefab so we can rapidly construct maps.
Might be a good timing for me to get into procedural map generation. : )
I think is this a very awesome memory-style game! The ambience is great and the mechanics are simple and effective. I love how the flora springs into existence as the tile flips over!
A very minor nit-pick… I think some timing needs to be improved over when the path tiles flip over. A lot of the time Ben is already traversing the tile before the tile even finishes flipping over. Once, Ben walked threw the tile as the tile was only at about 90 degrees. It looked off.
Over all, the above did not affect the game play in any way. Wonderfully made game!! Great work!
Thanks for the kind feedback!
Not a very minor nit-pick at all! Every bit of feedback counts!
Especially, I think this is has been mentioned quite a few times already, so we definitely have noted this down for bug fix. 😊
Fun game and great visuals, it just felt weird that even if you choose the wrong path the option to go to the next level will still show up.
Yeah, that's true. Thanks man.
Hahaha yea, this is our first game jam submission, we rushed a lot of things in the event. Ending up having no logic to check if the level is passed or not.
We have the plan to finish the game after the rating period elapses, so stay tuned if you are interested in the development. : )
Pretty neat, love the atmosphere. I think it’ll be better if the tile completes its rotation before Ben walks onto it.
Yeah, thanks, man. we will optimize it.
Ahhh yes, can't believe I didn't notice that before, should be an easy fix! Thanks mate. : )
Lovely game, nice animations. Last level was hard to remember the path, but I was right, and uncovering animations brings satisfaction to me!
HAHA, you are the best. we will try to make our flip animation as possible to match our sound, that will be more satisfied for you I guess.
Nice concept, great atmosphere, it's a very chill memory game. I like the fluid animations and the levels designs too!
Thanks, bro, we will try to make our animation tiles do not cross the character, to give you guys better play.
The terrain is gorgeous. The game idea is really good. Love it.
Cheers bro.
Fun game. I like how the tiles rotate only when Ben is close, and not all at once, so it builds suspense on if you got it right
Exactly bro. But due to the short time to make, we didn't have enough time to do level design.
Fun memory game, reminds me of card matching games!
YES, that's the idea we have thought! to rotate the world, to flip the world.
Really cool take on the theme!!
Great atmosphere, perfect way to wind down after the pressure of doing the jam haha.
Benny boi always finds the monument 😎
Hah hah hah, thank you, Reece, you are the best.
Good Job, it looks gorgeous and place very nice.
Though, with how long it takes for Ben to walk in the larger levels, a way to deselect tiles would be great.
WOw, it is worth consideration. We were thinking about giving the End Point a line path to lead, we don't need to select each tile then.
Really like the path and rotation animations. Good game, didn't encounter any major bugs as I played through it. Feels quite polished
Thanks! Glad you like the tile rotating animation, we spend most of the jam polishing that.
Thanks, man. Except for the time when some show props audios were overwritten and couldn't be played completely, we still tried our best.
Really love the presentation on this one, the visuals (including animations etc) feel extremely polished!
Thanks! We wanted to go for the "Monument Valley" vibe but ran out of time before we can properly set up the audio.
Wow, glad you like it.!!! Thank you! Just really hoping we could get more time.
Nice game overall! Definitely a few bugs like the infinite idling if you don't complete the path or get stuck in the wild, but given the jam time it looks and plays well.
Hahha thanks! I know that if you don't add any path, "Ben" will idle indefinitely, but does the game bug out when you run into the wild as well? Any chance you can explain the steps you did to bug that?
So if you add a partial path, one that does not reach the monument but does not go into the wild, then he will go to the end of your defined path and then idle infinitely.
Ahhh, thanks for telling me that, I should see that one coming. Didn't got to implement a function that checks the player's location when the moving phase ended. Lesson for my next game jam it is. : )
Ah! Really wanted more levels. nice game 👍
Thanks! Sadly we only got to the stage where we can rapidly prototype maps when the jam is about to finish, but we still rush out 3 more maps before the deadline.
Thanks for playing!
Nice use of graphics, feels satisfying to get the path right on the first try.
Thanks for playing! Good to know you found satisfaction from playing. I certainly stop having that after hundreds of debugging. xD
