Although there isn't much to lend itself to how the game is played other than reading the controls, I nevertheless had a good deal of fun with this rather cool idea.

You might consider a few User-Experience improvements if you intend to further develop this:

  • Match each chef's T-shirt color to correspond to they button that triggers them, in addition to floating UI for each button above their heads (or nearby)
  • Have the D-Pad food-selection UI bob up and down slightly to make it more obvious, and have the currently selected food wobble back and forth, or have the chef with a little speech bubble indicating the current selection.
  • Have the X/B chefs display a bubble which indicates what they'll turn the food in front of them into, if they can, and a special symbol for when they're holding something they need to put down.
  • Have each chef highlight the slot they perceive to be in front of them with their respective color, signalling where they will pick/place items.

Otherwise, this is really well put together for a 2-day jam, making excellent use of assets, complete with fitting music and sound, and a really neat and challenging mechanic. Great work! :D

Coffeepot!

Thanks so much for all this great feedback and for your time checking it out. These are great ideas! If I'm honest, I was feeling very pressed for time and tried to get my minimum-viable product done, and then improved it in the ways I felt would have the biggest impact on gameplay. Needless to say, there's lots of work to be done 😁

I'm glad you enjoyed the game, and again, thanks so much for taking the time to write a detailed review. It means a lot ❀️

Lovely game! Nice job with the implementation of the assets, it looks great! The music also fits the game really well. The game gets quite wild fast which I liked, made it quite exciting. Nice job for only 2 days of work.

Developer

Hey Stefan!

Thanks so much for playing and your kind comments! I'm glad you enjoyed it πŸ™‚

Love it! Took me sometime to figure out what to do first. It’d be better if there is a recipe to tell player how to cook and serve.

Developer

Hey Peu-TsuΓ’!

Thanks so much for checking it out! For sure, recipes are something I'd like to add so it's not as difficult to get started.

Thanks for your comment!

That's a great idea. The graphics are unique, and the sound was utilized in the right place. I think the controller mapping is done properly.

Developer

Hi Derin!

Thanks very much for playing and for your feedback, it means a lot πŸ™‚

Unfortunately I don't own a controller ... its a shame this game looks very enjoyable !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your comment anyways and for checking it out! πŸ™‚

This gets frantic fast and is a lot of fun. I had some trouble figuring it out at first. If you decide to develop this into a full game you should add a tutorial.  Its a very good use of the theme!

Developer(+1)

LostDutchman!

Thanks so much for checking out my game! I'm glad you found the frantic-ness fun! 😁

Thanks for your feedback, a tutorial will be the first update going into the game.

Awesome ideia, it took me some time to understand what was going on, but once i did it was quite fun to play.

Developer

Hey edevjogos,

Thanks so much for playing! I understand the controls weren't communicated well, I definitely should add a tutorial and recipe popup.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your feedback πŸ™‚

I like the Idea a lot, it has  a little bit of a Solo Overcooked :)

Would be nice to have Keyboard/Mouse Controls too. Also I would like to see the Buttons I need to press ingame (maybe over the Head of the Characters.  A recipe would be nice too so that you can see which steps you need to do next. Hope for a after-jam version :)

Developer

Thanks very much Rohten!

Overcooked was a big inspiration! For sure, I am considering other control schemes based on how many people have asked πŸ™‚

I like your idea of controls over the head of characters!

Thanks again for your feedback and for checking it out!

Very good game! It fit the theme perfectly & you made a great use of the assets.

Only providing gamepad binding is a bit risky for a jam but It definetly play well with a controller.

Little feedback : It would be a good idea to display the queue of orders (especially for the last levels) to let players anticipate and prepare several dish in parallel or at least prepare the ingredients.

Appart from that, Really solid game. Great job :)

Developer

Thanks so much, Szym! ❀️

You're right, I guess I didn't really consider people playing the game after submitting and didn't think about those without controllers...

Great idea for an order queue, might get on that πŸ™ƒ

Thanks again for playing and your review!

The concept is interesting but I got extremely confused without ingame instructions of what I should do and what were the controls. Also, the game lagged a lot on my pc =(. But with more time to develop I can see this game being great!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for your feedback! Sorry about the lack of instructions...

Sorry to hear about the lag, too. I suppose some graphics options would be better.

Submitted(+1)

Sorry mate, I tried playing this on both Chrome and Edge and neither let me press the start button. I could not get the game to run.

Submitted(+1)

I suppose its gamepad only

Developer

Hi!

Thanks for trying anyways, haha. Yeah only gamepad, I figured it made more sense to have the controls mapped to the location of the chefs.

Submitted(+1)

Instructions inside the game would have been good, went back to the main page a few times to see what I was meant to be doing (ok, I didnt read the instructions to begin with) . Once I had that down, I started getting into it.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! 100%, in-game instructions were on the to-do list... Maybe they'll get in there at some point πŸ˜…

Thanks for playing!

i liked it!

Developer

Yay! Thanks very much!

It took a little bit to get into the swing of things (never did figure out how to get the egg on the bacon level), but as I figured out the controls I found myself really getting into the game. Well done! I may just have a fiddly screen size, but the UI didn't scale particularly well for me. Didn't detract from the enjoyment of the game, but I figured I'd point that out.

Developer(+1)

Thanks very much for playing and for your feedback!

The Egg and Bacon just require cooking (the LEFT chef), as long as you have an order for one :)

This would work perfectly as a minigame for something like mario party!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much!!

Can this only be played with a gamepad?

Developer(+1)

Hi!
Yes, could have worked around some keyboard/mouse controls but I felt like the gamepad made more sense.

Submitted(+2)

It took a few minutes for my brain to understand what I was doing, but that's what made it fun! Great use of the rotation theme.

Developer

Thanks for the review! Definitely a tutorial would be useful πŸ˜… the time crunch was real!
