Challenging game! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the Kenney Jam, if you’d like to take a look. :)

gotta appreciate your efforts with this one, such an amazing job, everything looked so good, and a great concept as well

Ooooh look at those lights and shadows!

Really enjoyed your arcade-torch-running-curse-saving-from-ghosts game!

As others already mentioned, it’s pretty difficult at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s quite interesting to play! Had to make new sinapses to play this one.

Great entry!

I love the look of this and the sound is great! Neat little game but extremely difficult!

Well done!  Now I regret not adding light to my cursor!

Really fun concept, seems like it would be a perfect fit for a casual phone game.
Web version has a bit of a glitch on the RNG for when the enemies activate but the .exe plays way better. Still tough as nails though so different difficulty options would be nice or just more of a gradual progression to hard, although I know thats a challenge when you use RNG.

Thanks for the feedback, Alexander! I will definitely look into adjusting the difficulty once the jam has concluded (I've already got a bunch of ideas regarding how I might address that).

I like the mobile idea - I'll play around with that and see if I can get it feeling good on that platform.

You know the best thing from this game? It's that I kept mumbling a curse to the idiot who run around following flying torch and get himself killed by the flame or the flying tombstone/tree. =))))

I tried several times before managed to clear one level. I think my highest score was 26.

Anyway, great work! :D

Hahahaha I'm super glad you enjoyed it - I'll definitely be trying to lower the difficulty once the jam concludes.

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I think your high score is better than mine!

Really good concept and visuals! But as the other comments said, a lowered difficulty would make the game more engaging (to me at least!)

Developer

Hey TaliOS! :) Thanks for the feedback - I really enjoyed putting this one together so I'll be trying to address a number of things (difficulty and a bug in the web browser build that even further ups the difficulty are at the top of said list) once the jam has concluded. I really enjoyed the game you made for JamCraft5 and look forward to checking out your submission for this as well!

Oh, so you've played Moover?! Haha that's amazing, what are the odds!

+ Brilliant concept
+ Love the music
+ Great use of assets

- Too hard!
- Maybe make the human move slower or reduce the number of things that can kill him. Or add some sort of health to him so he doesn't die instantly...

Developer(+1)

Hey Slick, thanks for playing and commenting! A lot of the critical feedback I've received has (very fairly) been concerned with the difficulty and I will definitely be attempting to address that in a number of different ways once the jam has concluded. I'm glad the concept resonated with you!

Well done on the visuals, I like the ambience.

Thanks much! I think I let a little too much of the limited time I was able to devote to the jam be focused on getting the visuals decent. This jam was a lot shorter than the other one I participated in prior and I think I should have prioritized things a little differently. Lesson learned for my next attempt!

I loved the visuals and concept. After playing some times, it gets addictive! just wished the guy wouldn’t be so hasty to die hahaha

Developer

Thanks, raychof! Glad you enjoyed it despite how rough the difficulty curve is currently - I will definitely be addressing that once the jam is over (I kind of ran out of time and left some things in a bit of an unpolished state).

The torch's friend may not be the brightest bulb, but I like to think that he's just really focused on trying to comfort the lonely torch protagonist hahahaha!

As Kim said, progressive difficulty would be perfect but the rest of the game is pretty neat. Like the visuals and music. Gameplay is really nice.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it despite some of the issues present. Addressing the difficulty and fixing the spawn timers (enemies are supposed to wake up in a more random and staggered manner) for the web browser version will be my first changes post-jam!

Wish I could take full personal credit for the music & visuals, but I'm glad you liked my choice/usage of the assets. :)

Fun and addictive game!

Thanks for playing - glad you enjoyed it!

Wow, this is great! The gameplay is addictive which makes it fun to figure out and try to master. The only thing I'd like to see is progressive difficulty.  Overall though, a unique and fun game. Great job!

Developer

Thanks - glad you enjoyed it! It's really rough around the edges (particularly on the difficulty side of things) and a bug in how the enemies wake up in the web browser build I uploaded I think is also further increasing the difficulty for a lot of folks. The feedback is very much appreciated and implementing a smoother difficulty curve + seeing if I can address that "wake up timer" issue for the enemies in the browser build will be my top priority once the jam is over!
