Really cool first person shooter game, the atmosphere is really good, like some others mentioned it really has that half life feeling to it! And it also reminded me of Cloverfield! I always loved that scene were the soliders are in the tunnels and this had that exact same vibe! great execution, the effects, the sounds, everything on point bringing the experience up! Super polished for the time you had!

Thanks for playing, and all the kind words!
I actually wanted to have a section of the game take place in a subway tunnel originally! Unfortunately that was cut, but in hindsight if I had tried the initial idea I wouldn't have been able to polish the game nearly as much.
It's great to hear all my efforts paid off!
Great game with an awesome feel!
The gunplay is satisfying, and the atmosphere really took me back to Half-Life, especially with those headcrab-like enemies.
A great mix of action and atmosphere!
Thanks for playing!
I'm glad to hear you liked the gun feel, the only part I'm unhappy about is I didn't ahve time to add arms lol.
And as I mentioned in other comments, Half-Life was definitely a big inspiration for the realtime scripted sequences and some of the lighting and atmosphere. So I'm happy I managed to capture the same feeling!
Awesome work! The controls felt great and there was some nice feedback to the weapons. The sounds were cool and it would be great to have more of them. Great choice of setting as well to make things feel kind of claustrophobic even though the floors were quite big. The ending sequence was great too. Fantastic job.
Thanks for playing, and the kind words!
The shooting and movement received quite a bit of focus for this game so it's good to hear you liked it!
Yeah if I had more time I would've loved to add more unique sound effects, and especially add sounds for the enemy walk cycles.
The parking complex was actually originally only going to be the ending sequence of a longer game, but of course I didn't have time to start building out the other areas and just focused on the complex. And in hindsight it was defintiely the right choice! I like that it allowed the player to see the city surrounding them, but not roam freely, so I didn't have to fill in all the background details.
I'm glad to hear you liked the ending, I wanted to give the player a sense of relief in finally seeing friendlies. And then get to see the scene play out while still able to looka round and survey the city in full.
Nice work on this one- responsive controls and satisfying shooting. The kaiju in the distance was a really nice touch and the overall tone was really cool to get into. The encapsulated experience was really nicely curated, finding your way to the top and hoping to escape. Nice work!
Thank you, I've spent a fair bit of time both in this jam and over the past few years trying to refine shooting lol.
Having the Kaiju present in the background was an idea I had right from the start. I wanted it to make the player feel small, and helpless to stop it. I'm really happy the tone came across well, seeing the other entries in this jam I was worried my approach may be too outside the usual.
Thanks again for playing, glad you liked it!
Damn, I loved it. The aesthetics reminds me so much about F.E.A.R. and some creepy levels in half life 2. Very enjoyable c:
Thanks for playing, and the kind words!
The look of the game was definitely inspired by both those games. FEAR especially with the parking complex setting, and the lighting took inspiration from it and Doom 3 as well. Half-Life 1/2 were more an influence in having scripted events play out in realtime infront of the player while they can still manually move around. But admittedly some Ravenholm influence likely snuck in more subconciously.
Just generally though I was very much going for "shooter with creepy atmosphere and tension".
I loved the experience ^^
very good idea to start in a building with openings to pick at the kaiju, only to see it fully revealed at the end !
Thanks for playing, good to hear you loved it!
Yeah I wanted the kaiju to feel present, but not be the main focus of the experience. And I'm glad you liked the end, I really wanted that shot of the monster and the destruction it caused so the player gets a true sense of the scale. So I'm glad to hear it worked!
The gunplay is a lot of fun, with a good amount of tension and I really liked how you incorporated one of the themes!
I made some modifications to fix some bugs and finish some minor touches I had worked on prior to submission. Full changelog is here: https://enygmatic.itch.io/evac/devlog/913698/v11-update
Thanks for playing!
Yeah I haven't done this jam before so I didn't fully know what to expect beyond catching part of a FunBaseAlpha stream some time ago. I had Cloverfield stuck in my head though, so I knew I was gonna do a more boots-on-the-ground game no matter what.
I'm glad you liked it, and the patched version will be even better!
