Welp, I'm terrified.
This is a pretty nostalgic game for me. Reminds me of days past messing around on my Nintendo DS in the PictoChat app. So I like the idea of using that app and giving it a horror vibe.
The drawing mechanic is really cool with the various different brushes you can use. It was pretty neat that what you drew affected the endings you get. The game was interesting enough for me to get all the endings. :)
I feel the story is still pretty unclear to me but I enjoyed it anyway.
The pixel art was amazing, like the tunes, great game!!! :D
Hey, thanks so much for playing! This is definitely inspired by NintendoDS Pictochat nostalgia for me (first console I ever got), a lot of games "nostalgia" refers to gaming consoles that were released before I was even born, so I thought I'd give the DS a bit of love :)
The drawings affect the endings only in terms of how "rushed/unfinished" they are. You don't need to have amazing drawing skills to finish the game!
I really liked this game!
I think you did a great job at making an awkward situation out of one of those drawing chatrooms. I didn't personally feel too startled with the game, but the sound effects and changes in tone on the narrative were amazing to sell the creepiness!
Great job! :)
Thank you so much for playing!
It was more meant to be unsettling rather than downright horrifying/horror, but it was really fun to make for this jam :)
Lot of attention on the graphics for this one and on that aspect, done very well. Love the little hearts! I found it interesting that the whole color palette can be changed and there was a feature dedicated just to that, it is impressive, indeed! That face is.....caught me!
Thank you so much for playing ^^
PICO-8 means a lot of graphic limitations (16 colours) but that inspires people to get a bit creative as to how they use them! Changing the colour palette was something that I felt should be possible given that on older consoles they allow users to change the colour of the user interface/UI.
Good enough to want to go for all 5 endings, I really wanted to find out and i'm glad I did! I wish it did a playback of what you drew to recap the story to you before the ending. I thought it was clever that you can't just blitz through the drawings, that foiled many of my runs lol
Great work, sincerely!
Thank you so much for playing!!
I purposely made different endings depending on the "effort" of your drawings combined with the dialogue options you choose when speaking to Cheshire.
The following is a rough outline on how to get the endings:
I enjoyed the simple doodling mechanics, and then I got SPOOKED.
I really like this :D
Thank you so much for playing! I always thought drawing on the DS was fun growing up. And there's even artists who still use the DS interface to make animations (e.g. keke)
that was really interesting
thank you :)
Very beautiful game, with an interesting story and that can pass the mood he wants. I really enjoyed the game and got 3 of the 5 finals, maybe soon I will get all kk
Thanks so much for playing (and getting 3 out of the 5 endings!)
The story is something you piece together from each ending but it's not mandatory to "complete" the game to play them all, but I'm happy that people are willing to try :)
3DS Simulator 2020. Amazing art and I retro horror vibe works really well. Nice stuff
Thank you ^^
I actually based this off of Pictochat for the Nintendo DS (didn't get a 3DS) but PICO-8 is meant to mimic consoles from the 1980s. Essentially it's "1980s Pictochat".
Well you nailed the aesthetic.
This game was very fun and I like the drawing aspect, especially the multiple brushes. I actually got scared when the face popped up on my screen. Great game with great graphics!
Thanks for playing! I didn't expect that my game would be that scary (considering the little time I had to develop the scares) but it's going for more of an unsettling atmosphere rather than straight up horror.
Very detailed and interesting!!! A very odd but cool vibe!! great job!
Thank you :)
Good
