The gameplay is quite good, and makes no assumptions on what the player knows. The art-style is slightly simplistic, but it does fit the theme nicely. Difficulty wise... I'm sticking to FPS games (I couldn't beat level 3). I think this was mostly because of the one-block openings that you have to weave through and partly because of the movement speed of the enemies.
Overall, it was a great experience, especially with the gameplay!
the difficulty, is indeed intended to make the game feel longer than it actually is. Most people didn't have too much trouble with it though.
glad that you enjoyed it!

Hi! Finally got to play the game! Beat it in 180 seconds first playthrough (with 30 deaths haha).
Your game gave me some really old-school DOSgame vibes, pretty neat for nostalgia reasons hehe. The gameplay was simple, but as a whole it was still engaging and made me want to keep on going! The short levels make retrying easy and make deaths feel a lot more forgiving so on the level design part that's a good call!
Some pros that I found in your game:
- The controls are very responsive, nothing more to be said there!
- The colour coding of enemies is a smart approach, especially one to keep in mind as you potentially build on this game.
- The difficulty curve in levels was very good!
- The design of the game was made done very straightforward and I'd like to believe not a single player will question what they're meant to do!
Now some things that I think might improve the game:
- A little polish such as a fade out/in screen upon new levels is a great touch that'll increase the perceived quality of a game by loads, without being too hard to implement.
- The hitboxes felt a little bit too tight (I think the hitboxes were exactly the size of the actual sprites?). Generally you'll want hitboxes to be sliiiightly smaller than the actual graphics (reaction time with the brain and whatnot) however, for the theme/style, this might actually be just fine as I believe most games back then had really strict hitboxes on their graphics.
- The level design, while good in difficulty curving, felt a bit random. A rule I tend to stick to, myself, is that I try to have every single block, obstacle, everything have a meaning in the level, in order to make a player do something, to guide them, or to challenge them.
Thank you for your submission and I'm looking forward to see what you come up with in future jams!
thanks alot for the feedback! the hitboxes are indeed slightly smaller but i think the movement makes it look like they're not (which is my fault), i could've added fadeins/outs but wanted to keep downtime to a minimum and I agree with you completely on the level design, i kinda just winged it and hoped it worked haha. Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice gameplay loop, simple-to-understand mechanics, and the increasing difficulty over time give's it a "I want to see what is next" addictive nature. I mean, it's got all the makings of a great mobile phone game.
World's Hardest Game, amiright?!
Yeah, this plays like an easier version of that, and I love it! Flash games were so cool, which I am willing to consider retro. It controls so well, too! In a world where flash games are unplayable, we need more like this to get that fix. The aesthetic is nice and simple, and the music is pretty relaxing. Good job!
That was a very fun game and I loved the way you used the theme. Not many people would think of flash games as retro, but I liked it very much.
The art style is simple and consistent but the music is a little too repetitive. I loved how you used the simple enemies in a creative way in the level design, congratulations
Excellent little game! I had fun throughout! Clean, polished end result.
The hitboxes in particular were perfect. There was never a doubt about whether or not I was touching something. And I love that the tiles allow you to 'know' with some certainty that you are out of harm's way.
I also agree that the level design could be more intentional, but given the time limitations of the jam, I am extremely impressed.
I think if you give it a little TLC and maybe a few more mechanics you could have a great game on your hands.
Thanks!
There was some clear hardest game inspiration, fun stuff! I missed a coin and had to restart ahahah. I think it could benefit from some more stuctured level design, the elements were just thrown in there seemingly haphazardly. Also some graphics that support the gameplay of the game. Fun overall. Nice work
I really enjoyed this one! I just dig how simple it is, and there is something about it that does really speak to the feel of old flash games. It feels like something I would've played on a school computer in middle school or something, and I mean that in the best way! It just has a nice vibe.
I didn't love some of the level design. Occasionally it would feel a bit like there were just enemies all over the place, and the setup of little gap with an enemy going back and forth in it started to feel a bit overused in my opinion. But that could also just be because I was pretty terrible at the game too, haha. I did really like the concept of the level where you had walls of enemies on either side of you; that mixed things up a bit!
Overall, awesome work! I got nine coins... wanted to go back and get the final one so I could play the extra level, but it seemed like it meant playing the whole thing again, and I oughta rate some other games today. Maybe I'll come back at some point!
glad you had a good time :)
yea the level design in general wasn't too great as this was my first time making a non platformer game and yea it definitely was inspired by old flash games like "The Worlds Hardest Game" heavily.
The world hardest game-like type of game, but this one I could finish. Fun was had. Great work!! :-)
glad you enjoyed it :D
yea the worlds hardest game was the inspiration
Fun semi-puzzle game
tbh i never really saw it as a puzzle game but im glad you enjoyed it :)
I don't know how else to desrcibe it TwT It kinda fits the bill ~
Hey! It's like the world's hardest game but you don't have to worry about dy-- oh I just died on the first level.
yea that was the inspiration, thanks for playing!
Simple but fun game
thanks!
Finished the game in around 5 minutes. Solid, but average.
(Potentially?) Bug: Coin does not re-spawn after you picked them up and die on the same round, after you pass the level later and it would still counted towards you picked it up.
that is intended to make getting the coins a bit easier
thanks for playing!
That's what I figured, cheers.
