Really enjoyed the graphics for this, very well polished with a very clear aesthetic!
Thanks!
Wow the atmosphere is brutal, but well executed (haha morbid joke). My only point of feedback would be what has been mentioned in comments already, that enemies seem to have a better line of sight than the player. This should be an easy fix though, I think zooming the camera out would go a long way. Music and visuals are on point with what you were going for though, and I enjoyed the gunplay! Great job overall!
Thanks for the feedback!
didn't expect to kill a civilian but ok great game!
Thanks!
The civilian idea wasn't mine... It was my partner's.
It was most definitely yours.
I couldn't get the linux build to work, I am on Manjaro (archlinux). I got this error message when I tried to run the .x86_64 (I don't have any .pck file in the folder after running the exe):
Error: Couldn't load project data at path ".". Is the .pck file missing?
If you've renamed the executable, the associated .pck file should also be renamed to match the executable's name (without the extension).
Sorry about that!
Neither my partner nor I use Linux, so we weren't sure if it would work! We'll try to fix it after the jam is over.
No biggie. Hope I can try it after then!:D Our game didn't compile at the end so we also only have a build up from day 3 of the jam lol, so check ours out after too!
Will do!
The game has an interesting atmosphere. There certainly is a lot of work behind the visuals and concept. I also appreciate the procedural generation element, it was for sure not easy to do. On the other hand, I wasn't able to win the game or even go trough more than 2 rooms since the enemies shoot too fast and you have to tank some shots in order to kill someone. You could try lowering projectile velocity of the enemies or their shoot speed for the player to be able to dodge them or make it a more stealth-like game. Next time try to focus primarily on gameplay and playability and on looks after. But for two high schoolers this is actually very impressive!! there for sure is a lot of potential here. Keep up challenging yourselves!! you're on the right path.
Thanks a lot!
We were a little distracted by the visuals when making this game. 馃槼
I really liked the aesthetic! The sound effects are cool but I wish there was a little bit more audio or visual feedback for hitting an enemy/being hit by an enemy. Other than that it was a pretty solid game. Nice job!
What I don't like about the game:
The main problem is that the enemies start shooting the instant they come into your view and a lot of times you can't see who is shooting you. This makes it very hard to avoid damage. And the damage builds up, I tried this game for a while but could only finish the 3rd room as by then my health is non-existent.
Also, the hitbox is a little too big and you can't fit in a tile wide space. other than that,
The game is really good
I love the simple retro style and the graphics with all those particles, It's simple and I like it.
And how can I forget the procedurally generated rooms, the animation that plays at the beginning makes it that much cooler.
Thanks for the feedback!
The problems you mentioned definitely need to be worked on. In fact, the hit box thing was on our to-do list, but we were distracted by other objectives, so we never really got around to it.
Thanks for the comment!
I asked some people to play-test our game and responses were quite varied. Some people thought the game was unbeatable (including my partner); but some people told us that they could beat the entire game without much effort at all (I thought the game was easy). In the end, I did end up increasing the enemies' detection range and health. But in hindsight, I can see how you're right. Thanks again for the specific feedback!
