I look forward to play it again if you ever decide to complete it. Nice work for a first timer in less than 24 hours a day!

excellent use of colour and there were some vivid descriptions that placed me well. unfortunately perhaps some of the descriptions were a bit too vivid as i was a bit lost in the few playthroughs i did, constantly staring at the vivid descriptions rather than internalizing the plot & action
How frustrating to run into dead end after dead end! :D But it shows quite well how impossible it gets to actually try to write out every single choice and have it take you down a separate path, and just how overwhelming it gets. But for what it is as a very short, chaotic vignette, it definitely paints an interesting picture of a world - and it uses the theme quite cleverly as well :)
Hello! Sorry for the super late reply on this. I fully agree on the dead end after dead end from a writing perspective too haha (and apologize as the game dev for the frustration). It burnt me out even before my 24 hours were up. I have definitely learned my lesson ... maybe some day I will go back and tie those dead ends together, create new stories, and provide an experience that's a bit less frustrating!
Thank you for taking the time to play and comment!
I think this has quite a bit of potential despite being so short- it's tough thinking of multiple different paths in less than 24 hours. It's clear it's unfinished, but you can definitely go back to it later! As for the paths that seem too similar to others, why not merge them back together? Not every choice has to start infinitely branching out, sometimes they can converge back together, and you can think of something later to make them branch out again if you really want to. Having choices already makes us interested, and they don't always have to be game-changers. It's a good start :D
Sorry for the super late reply on this. Thank you for taking the time to play and comment! I appreciate the encouragement. It left me burnt out and for the past two months I couldn't even bear thinking about it, but your suggestions make me think at some point I can go back and try to finish this... so, thank you!
Nicely written so far, and neat idea! There you are, a body snatching monster going about your business when you're interrupted so rudely. It's a really compelling start.
The concept/story is very compelling; every time I hit a dead end I was disappointed that it didn't continue further. But as you've probably noticed by now, trying to have every single choice lead to a completely different path quickly becomes untenable, since the number of dead ends grows exponentially.
You currently have a lot of endings that are "stalled due to similarity with other paths"; I think that's a good sign that you could have them merge back together (with small differences tracked by variables, e.g. maybe a confrontation takes place in a different location), which would help keep the scope manageable. But for a "first real attempt at an IF game" I'm actually pretty impressed at the amount of content you got done.
Hello! Sorry for the super late reply on this. Thank you for taking the time to play and comment! It makes me really happy even this attempt was compelling and interesting. But yes, it was a very solid lesson in how perpetually branching endings become awful to manage ...
I think if I try again I would definitely merge the paths as you suggested. I'd have to look into how to do that with Ink, or else change engines to... Twine maybe....
Appreciate the feedback!
I really like the concept and theme!
Body snatching via eye contact is a good backdrop for a choose-your-own-adventure story. The story is well-written and descriptive.
My one critique is that there were a lot of dead-ends to the story and no way to go back to the previous decision point besides restarting the whole thing. I think it would’ve been better to have fewer branching paths which would lead to more complete endings.
Good job!
Hello! Sorry for the super late reply on this. Thank you for taking the time to play and comment! I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed the writing and game despite it being... well... so rushed and unfinished haha
I can totally see how the restarting thing is a problem... It was my first time using Ink but if (when?) I try again, I'll look into how to avoid that.
