You had me at the description “werewolf murder mystery” - yes, please. But then left me wanting more. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes in the next chapter.

I loved the atmospheric music and the torn paper aesthetic of the UI.

The progressive disclosure of snippets of the main character’s backstory were well-measured.

The mix of mouse click and spacebar depending on type of progression felt a little bit weird to me, but I got used to it fairly quickly.

Splendid game.

Hey, since you were interested in seeing where the story goes next, I just wanted to let you know that the full game of The Wolf of Derevnya is out now and I'm giving out free Steam keys to the full game to InkJam people. Would you like one?

Really like this as the set-up for a longer story; the ability to build your character on the fly in response to the world is interesting too.

Interesting start to the story! I'm curious to see whether I get a chance to chew out Branislav. :-)

Loved this! Got very attached to Yekaterina, my androgynous hermit with a dead little sister. Looking forward to wherever this goes next!

Loved this! I want more!!

Oi, I was reading that. What do you mean it's over already?

Nice job, definitely off to a good start! The art on the right is a great touch and a really nice atmosphere overall. The music is just right to add to the mood but not distract from the story.

Bits of feedback I have but they're all pretty minor:

- Bug: The image on the right doesn't reset to the wolf one at the start of a second playthrough so it just stayed.

- The writing feels a little cramped on the page. Having it start a line further down the page would give it a little more breathing room.

- Would be nice to be able to click to progress the text and/or have the option to select the different options with the keyboard to allow the  game to be played one handed/ without the requirement of using both mouse and keyboard.

Really enjoyed this; fantastic atmosphere with expansive-feeling choices and intriguing hints about the wider world. Looking forward to playing more!

Gah!! It ended so quickly!

The atmosphere was absolutely top-notch, as was the prose. The book-like presentation along with minimal but evocative art was very effective, and I loved experiencing the world being fleshed out bit by bit. It looks from reading the description like an existing world I'm not familiar with (?) but I felt like I was being introduced at just right pace as a novice to it.

I was just left wanting more.

Just wanted to let you know that the full game of The Wolf of Derevnya is out now and I'm giving out free Steam keys to folks from InkJam! Would you be interested? I would love to hear your thoughts on the full game since you made one of my absolute favorite InkJam entries.

Impressed with how much you have pulled together here in short order. The breadth of the text and choices. The overall components (sound, visuals, writing). The quality of narration. I was thoroughly engaged. Well done.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm giving out free Steam keys to the full game to people who reviewed The Wolf of Derevnya during InkJam. Would you like one? I'd love to hear if the rest of the game lives up to your expectations!

Great start, was pulled into the story from the beginning. I would like to be able to advance the narrative with mouse clicks, going back and forth from keyboard and mouse was awkward. Good luck finishing the full game!

-Great UI
-Superb buildup on the setting and the feel of it
-Loving the visuals and the music
-Good scope of meaningful choices and branching paths

-Snapping at Mila was a bit sudden, only time I felt control was taken away from me

Thanks for the feedback. The full game is out now on Steam and we have free keys for people who reviewed Chapter 1 during InkJam. Would you be interested in one?

Super gripping story! I loved everything in the village.
I love the image to the side of the text (and would love MORE images, that change as the story advances), I love that there's kind of an enforced limit by art style on how much text you get at once to read.
I love the limited colour, and faint but persistent background music.
GREAT STUFF!

SPOILER BELOW

When I found the elk, I wasn't clear how human I was, and thought maybe it was a trap meant for ME - either clever wolves, or the humans, trying to lure me in an catch me.
So when I chose an option close to "look for the beast", what I was expecting was to really check my surroundings before moving closer to the dying elk. Instead I felt like I was going back completely the other way, to the choice I didn't choose at the start?
Does that make sense?

As I said, once I was heading to the village, I loved every second of it.

Thanks! (We're just getting started on the art side so there will definitely be more illustrations in the future.)

Hi again!

Can I ask what you used in addition to Ink in order to have the side text, the images, and the boxes for in-game options?

It says "made in Unity", but were there some specific Unity tools you chose?
