Thanks so much! Congrats on making top 20 – that's awesome! Luckily we bought a ticket haha :P

Out of curiosity, what was the rating distribution for your guys' game like? My game seemed to get really bogged down by some 1-star reviews, but I can't figure out what they're from since my game did about equal in all of it's categories.

Developer(+2)

Here ya go!

Submitted(+1)

Thanks! That's about what I'd expect, but I'm still surprised by the number of 1-star reviews, your game is quite strong on all fronts

Here's what my distribution looked like, seems like those 5-stars really made the difference for you guys!

Developer(+1)

Yeah for whatever reason I found the ratings for this jam to be rather harsh in contrast to other jams we've done. Maybe because of the money prize?

I liked it because it has a different perspective towards tower defense. I enjoy tower defense sometimes, but I don't play often since it's too stressful. This game, however, wasn't stressful! I thought it's going to be hard at first, because I have to think of two things at the same time, but thanks to good mechanics, it was really enjoyable. I loved the point that players have to consider two things when they place the turret. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

This means a lot!
It's great to hear we balanced the right amount of challenge and stress, thank you!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words!! Means a lot :)

Cool idea that you have to walk around and pickup the resources in time! Some tower defense games make you wait till the run is over but this keeps you perfectly busy especially that the resources disappear over time! And very nice logo and drawing, its a shame that this does not really come back in the art-style of the game, feels like its 2 separate things, would have been cool to see some of this art style in the game it self, aldo i do love the game graphics on its own :) And i would suggest showing more clearly how much resources you have, its a bit hard to see, also when picking up I'm not sure what is is what. So i can't really plan on what to pick up first. Other than that its fun! nicely done!

Amazing game mechanics! Not to forget the effects and the particles making the gameplay smooth and catchy. Moreover, good job with the sound effects!

I love this take on defense and survival! The sprite animations are cute and highly well done.  The fact that you can still get hit by your own line of defense adds a new layer of strategy as you need to position yourself and move to your shooters' blind spots, and some can even home in on you! Its so cool! Overall love your game and everything about it, I had a blast playing it!

Wow thanks so much! I means a lot :) If you haven't yet, don't forget to rate our game – it means a lot!!

Love this idea, had a lot of fun! It can get pretty challenging very quickly. Being able to push enemies to delay them and deflect loose projectiles adds a lot of depth to the game. The positioning of your towers matter even more when you consider that your projectiles can also hurt you.

Big fan of the music by the way, love that smooth bass.

Probably the best game in the jam. Only thing I noticed is that the music gets a bit repetitive, but overall it's an amazing game

Wow thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated :)

This is a very polished game. I love the mechanics since it gives more of a challenge to your standard tower defense game. The art is very good, and the music is also good. I have nothing negative to say.

this is just amazing, i love that you can push enemies, i just love everything. i had an idea, probably not good though, but maybe you could add a tower that slowly generates hearts for the player to pick up. that's all, it's just delightful.

Developer

Thank you so much for the kind words and for the suggestion! Much appreciated :)

First off, amazing artwork on the title page. I'm a big fan of tower defense games and this had a fresh take on it with the focus on geometric line of fire and pickups. At first, I was annoyed by scrambling around to collect the items, but I grew to appreciate the challenge and loved the magnet boost.

Though I don't remember a summary of what the different items did besides the health and coins. And the UI could have used a bit more contrast against the main screen. I found myself scrambling at times to find information. And I never did find information that each tower had a different currency, is what it seemed like, though it wasn't all that necessary since the towers brightened when I could afford them.

Congrats on the well deserved success.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! Really glad you enjoyed the game :)

You can find a summary of what each item does in the "How to play" section on the main menu, or by clicking the blue "i" icon while in the game. You can also see each individual currency the towers need under the tower icons on the right. But we'll keep your thoughts in mind as we continue to work on the game to ensure that all the info comes across!

Thanks again!

I love this fresh new take on the tower defense genre. Very innovative. I love how I can actually play while the waves are going instead of just watching and perhaps emergency buying spikes. Nice work!

Excellent work! I love all the little mechanics. I like the attention to detail. The small pickups are great. Punching enemies and redirecting bullets are also great. I feel like punching bullets is not strong enough as bullets come faster than I can bunch them. The game seems to become almost a bullet hell. This is an interesting idea; however, with many towers and it is very difficult to make use of those otherwise fun punching mechanics. Maybe this could be fixed by pickups that boost your swinging speed. Or maybe the more you swing, the faster your next swings are at least when hitting bullets.

The menu is very polished - the animations and sound effects are excellent, especially for the help menu with the exclamation marks! Same goes for the rest of the game - excellent work on the "juiciness"!

I think a visual indicator of where the towers are going to shoot when placing them could be helpful for complete beginners.

I would love to see more cool towers and pickups that give them temporary boosts.

I can see that different colored enemies are more difficult to kill. However, I do not see a visual indication of how much health they have so it is hard for me to determine how well I am doing and how difficult and enemy is. The game Bloons TD achieves this by having the color represent the remaining number of lives. So an enemy has one color when it has 3 lives and some other color at 2 and so on. I am not sure if this is applicable here but in Bloons it is very satisfying to see the enemy balloons go down in rank as you damage them. Also this way you get a better idea of how much damage you are doing per second.

The only thing I am not a big fan of is the gameplay music. There is this one instrument that keeps repeating and completely removes any feeling of variety. If you have the money or resources you should consider getting a soundtrack with more parts, development, variety - maybe it uses the same ideas; however, it changes them up a bit and develops them over time instead of just repeating them. I personally like the Bloons TD music, for example. It is a different style but the point is there is a lot of variety even if it is all thematically similar.

Regardless, great job on the game so far!  I hope you have success with further developments! I am looking to seeing how it works out! :)

Could you please check out my submission and give feedback? I would be very grateful! :)
Maybe you could play it with the other developers as it is meant to be a multiplayer game:
