Great work! I like the 1 button idea :D

  • Overall: The game was really chill and simple
  • Fun: It was a lot of fun to try and time your shots.  I think it would be cool if there were more paddles and blocks on the bottom too! That way it's even more satisfying if you miss the paddle. Perhaps the paddle could give buffs of some kind!
  • Visuals (Graphics): Nice and clean~ as mentioned before needs some game juice.  Here is an awesome lecture on it (they even use a similar game for example!)
  • User Interface: Can worry about that later hehe.
  • Audio: Nice start, perhaps chill music would go well

Once again great job!! Please check out my game when you can :D

A solid core concept. It's just in desperate need of more juice. It's also unclear what exactly causes a ball to stop bouncing, whether it's the number of bounces, the number times it strikes certain surfaces, or some other factor. It seemed inconsistent about what would trigger the ball to "die" and what would keep it alive.

Good job Mulgrath! I loved the type of game you chose, I haven't seen this type of game in a long time.

Going back to what we were talking about, I like it, the graphics could be improved but they are fine, it would need a menu like pause or for change the volume, etc. The rest is fine for my taste.

I really like the core gameplay of it. The way you make it into a one-button game is pretty neat. And the sound feedback is fine. But I have to be honest that as long as the visual design is a little bit better, I could enjoy the game much more.

One suggestion regarding the color design is that you could search for some color plate and try to make you game asset out of those. That would already make the game feel consistent.

Developer

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed the gameplay!

That's a good suggestion for the visuals. When I get to updating the graphics I will consider doing that.

Very simple game with a fun twist on a classic arcade game. Not too complicated or overdone, just a fun game you can lose yourself playing for a while.  Short and sweet. Lots of replay value. Of course the visuals are pretty minimal, but that doesn't seem to be the main draw of this game, though, since it is a large portion of the rating, it should probably be mentioned. Very fun.

Hey, thanks for playing!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the game. I've lost more time to "playtesting" than I'd care to admit...

I do plan on working out some better graphics eventually, but I wanted to add a bit more content first, haha.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I had a lot of fun, arcade/high score games just have a way of drawing people in.  The mechanics are solid and it's fun to play!  At this point I feel like the only critiques would be maybe some art updates to really make it things pop on the screen, and a few different brick layouts or levels would really add some variety and a sense of progression in the game.  It really shows how designing around limitations (like a one button limit) can still make really fun and enjoyable games and add an interesting twist to a classic game.

Thank you for playing!

I'm glad you had fun with it. The limitation was a great reminder about how games don't have to be complicated in order to be fun.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am currently working on adding some additional modes and block ideas to keep gameplay a little more interesting. As a programmer art is always a sticking point, but I'll get around to it eventually, haha.

A fantastic demonstration of how game jams help, is it not?

Very well done and very well executed.

Developer

Yeah, considering this was my first foray into game jams, I learned a lot!

Thank you for your kind words, and for playing!
