Not bad! I like the art and especially music!

I do think the use of the theme could've been better but overall its not bad!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the review. About the theme I agree :/

Submitted(+2)

The art and music create a beautiful atmosphere! The gameplay is also fun even though it doesn't fit the theme of the jam much. It takes a while to figure out what you need to do but once you do it's quite fun. It has some bugs one of which was pretty annoying - I couldn't select some of the floating ice blocks and they just passed me by. Overall great entry!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your review, about the theme we tried to have multiple reference of the themes (3 shapes of Pingus, 3 minutes to win, 3 seconds by clouds etc.) but maybe it is not enough :/

Submitted(+1)

I think utilizing the theme to its fullest is more about making the core game loop around it instead of referencing it. But that's more of a game design exercise and quite hard.
It's all just for fun so what's important is that you made a working game in 72 hours.
It turned out great so your team should be proud.

Developer(+1)

Thanks :) I understand, but for us, the interpretation of the theme is purely subjective and just forces the devellopement in one direction, and therefore, there’s really no “perfect” use of the theme, just more or less original ways of using it. But I understand that our use is not the most original ^^’

We love the idea of saving pingus. There's a bug (?) that pinguins just flying away sometimes when ice is cracking, and this is very tragic.

Great concept, nice entry, good job!

Developer

Thanks for your review, sometimes the physics do some stuff like that specialy if you drag and drop a Pingu with inertia ^^’

Okay this has alot of potential I really enjoyed it, the use of the theme felt super unnecessary, it was almost like by adding more penguins Im just making it harder on my self, I think if you had it to where a penguin dropped every countdown without a choice that would have made it more of a requirement that I was attentive to it. The blocks breaking was cool, I would suggest making more come out more frequently so not only do I have some to expand, but replace was damaging and then its a puzzle of me just picking and choosing where they go! Over all I like what you have here its alot of fun!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! :)

We’ve been trying to balance the game, and if Pingus fell automatically, we think the game would be too frustrating. Adding more Pingus makes it harder, but it adds more points per second, and the total Pingus alive at the end also adds a lot of points. I understand that you want to get to the end with the minimum number of fallen Pingus, but it’s actually not the best strategy in terms of points! :p

For the replacement, we had the idea but abandoned it because we didn’t think it was necessary, but maybe it is :/.

For spawning, we thought it was a sweet spot, but in fact the RNG can make situations without blocks for too long :/

Its not letting me run the HTML5 version, its making this message pop-up: "

Error

The following features required to run Godot projects on the Web are missing:

Cross Origin Isolation - Check web server configuration (send correct headers)

SharedArrayBuffer - Check web server configuration (send correct headers)"

I checked other HTML5 games using Godot and they worked fine, so i dont know whats making this different

Developer (3 edits) (+1)

Sorry for that, in the description of the project it’s specified : Chrome or derivative only or you can download Windows, Linux or macOS version.

Maybe other people are using Godot 3.x. Godot 4.x web export is not working perfectly today, this is a known problem.

Submitted(+1)

Alright, I’ll try to download the Linux version later today then

Loved your game, loved that with simple mechanics you achieved to make it deep in mastering. Visuals, are insane, really loved this waves, and penguins design. Only lack of matching UI separate it from greatness) And also you definitely needed to use high res image for main menu)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your review! Yes we had planned to have a better interface but I was the only developer and I focused on gameplay and asset integration (and also I only worked ~48h/72h because I worked on Friday and Monday ^^’). About the image, yes indeed this its pixelised a little ^^’

Submitted(+2)

This is a nice concept, I actually felt bad for the pingus when they did fall off, then again they are penguins they should be able to swim. regardless the game was fun, the art was great, and the music/sound effects were pretty good, there were stretches of time where I got no blocks and while I assume it's an rng thing I gotta ask why does that happen?

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your review :) This is the last Iceberg on the earth :/ Yes the mecanics using RNG can be improved.

Submitted(+2)

I ran into a bug there the penguins wouldn't fall... the countdown started, but other than that nothing.

In the end, only ~8-9 penguins dropped.

I later than into an issue where I went ~25 seconds with no ice.

Not sure if these things were intentional or not, but ignoring these two things the idea was super neat.

The concept was pretty unqiue and played out really well too.  Great submission!

Developer

Thanks for your review :)

About the Pingus drop, it seems to be a bug, but it’s the first time it’s appeared :/ I’m sorry about that. Did you see the tutorial? You have to right-click to choose where Pingu drops.

About “About 25 seconds without ice”, yes the randomness of this mechanic can do things like that. I can improve this by adding a maximum limit between two spawns.

Submitted(+2)

Ah I seems I have missed the bit about clicking where to drop it! Time to play it again LOL

about 5 penguins fall from my boat  i am bad at this game but reali nice i like pinguins graphike

Developer

Nice gameplay loop!

Very strategic based building and very cute penguins!

Love it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you :)

Submitted(+2)

That was good. It's a really chill game)

Developer

Thanks

I really like the idea, however I thought it would be much more fun if we did more than just clicking. For example if we could maybe try to balance iceberg by moving the penguins. My biggest issue was the ice blocks getting destroyed way faster than the ice blocks' spawn rate. This could be a really really fun game with some new mechanics that involves the player into the gameplay loop a bit more. Art style was really nice and the ambience you created is very calming. Overall I enjoyed the game and finished it! Here's my score!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I’m glad you enjoy it. In fact, you can move Pingus by clicking on it (drag and drop). About the mechanics, we have a lot of ideas but not enough time to implement them, for example, the seagull is just decorative but we have imagined mechanics with it. On the subject of spawn, the spawn rate is set to create stress, but I understand that it can be a little frustrating :/.

mine :p

Oh I didn't realize that, I'll definitely replay and update my rating ^^

A very interesting game concept you have created. And it's a very nice twist you've put on the game. Very nice!

Thanks :)

Fun game, firstly I didn't understand how to play it, but after I saw the instructions, I figured it out, and the graphics are quite cool, great job! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks :)

Very cute cozy game! It took me a while to figure out how to get the penguins, but once I figured it out it was a delightful physics game. Good job!

Thanks :)
