Great story! And I really like the art style. Nailed the Obra Dinn-esque look.

this game was so good and intense and the music made every moment better, the art of the background is so good too, really enjoyed the history.

This from a visual novel stand point is excellent! The art, the sound design, the music, and the characters are all engaging, the story and writing is excellent, I had a few chuckles here and there due to the dialogue, and is so fun to be a little bit of a smart ass in old english hahaha

This game is the one that I have enjoyed the most so far, really interesting and fun to play! I was

genuinely hooked up with the story, sadly I got a bad ending but I'll try to get a good one.

I hope you make more of this stories

The story got me hooked up! Amazing well thought dialogues. Great game.

This is really atmospheric, I was really on edge that I was going to be singled out as a witch. Didn't finish it yet so no spoilers but I love the bit I managed to see so far (I accidentally clicked off haha I will go back to it later).

Great to see another visual novel on here! :) And as I said on Discord, it wasn't tough to stick out the length at all lol (mine is about as long, give or take). Definitely more focused on the character aspect than the historical aspect is what I felt, but I do think you have to strike a balance there and make the characters interesting in order for players to want to see it through to the end, which I think you did a good job with.

Lots and lots of choices too, makes me wonder what I might have missed!

The graphics are striking and memorable, but not exactly pleasing to my eyes (though I totally respect the aesthetics of it all.).

All in all, my favorite game so far in the jam (and not only because I might be a bit biased as a VN guy).

Super well done, you two! :)

Love the graphics and great way to get into the story

I love the overall presentation of this game. It successfully pulls me in and makes me want to know more, which is saying a lot as I do not generally play games of this genre!

I do feel like the historical aspect takes a back seat compared to the character drama, but it seems appropriate in this case.

That's a great compliment, thanks Spainmail! This was our first time making a game in this style, and the characters really took on a life of their own by the end.

Thanks so much!! We had a lot of fun writing it!

If you do a second playthrough, don't forget the fast forward and rewind buttons if you want to play around with the different choices (`=` and `backspace` respectively.

I love the graphic!

Thanks!!

You mentioned it on our game page, but were definitely inspired by Obra Dinn's 1-bit technique. There were some really interesting tutorials on how that effect was achieved (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap4fXGTOb7I).

Here's a before and after with the shader applied. Real glad we didn't need to account for camera motion, as that would've made things a lot harder.

No wonder the art style feels familiar! I love Obra Dinn and all of Lucas Pope's games!

Using solely my powers of incredible sass and back-talk, I managed to make everyone in the town hate me. Very much so do I wish they would walk into the sea.

Got hung because I confessed to my witch-crimes. I WISH I was a witch. Wish I could put a curse on some of them nasty folk in the town >:(

Great job!

With the correct choices, you can shift the blame onto one of those mean people...  🤔🤔
