I like the art, but the game itself is too difficult for me

Submitted

Like the art but boy is it punishingly hard, the ruble from the sky falls too fast and unpredictably, the swords fly faster than you and I don't know if it was me but I couldn't land? The game needs some balancing but it has potential to be a great highscore game, would definitely play again if it has a balance update.

Thanks for playing. Me and my friend will consider to add a balance update.

The colors are beautiful. I love pixel art and the drawings are really cute. Backgrounds are easy to distinguish but I can't easily tell what the characters are supposed to look like. The music is appropriate. Unfortunately, even after reading the instructions I couldn't control my character. It was frustrating to keep dying after a few seconds and having to switch back and forth between clicking the mouse to start and using the keyboard to play. I would love to playtest this again if the controls could be more intuitive. Is the frog in the screenshots part of the game? Good start but needs more work.

Developer(+1)

Nope. The frog isn't part. Yes, I would love to work on it more but I was really stressed out that time.

Yeah I figured that must be your logo or something. I understand about the stress. There usually isn't much time to develop something as complete as we would like during these jams and then we're not allowed to update it until it's over? Well I hope you're able to continue working on this game and turn it into something fantastic. I really love the art

The game feels rather unapproachable. I got the impression that it doesn't want you to play it with all this borderline bs happening in the first few seconds. I barely have enough time to find my bearings before I need to act and that usually just ends with me flying head first into death.

While the movement system is unusual, it is functional and if I was to invest more time probably decent. Graphics are serviceable, I just can't wrap my head around the reason that you put a coordinate grid in the background.

My biggest gripe was the fact that the movement is bound to the arrow keys, which means that I have to quickly take off my right hand off of the mouse. This then results in me dying withing seconds, so I take my right hand and put it on the mouse to restart. This is annoying for such a fast pace game. If you expect me to loose quickly, I expect to be able to return to the action effortlessly.

Thanks for the feedback. I will try next time to add different combination for keys to play and sorry for the other mode's background a bit weird. We didn't know it would the mode would exist and didn't have the time to make the art. For the first problem, I actually do agree. It's just that a I normally play hard games and think the difficulty would be fine which makes it unassessable which I don't really like other. Again, thanks for the feedback.

You have built quite a challenging game - I didn't last long at all!  Cute graphics and the sounds effects were great.

Thanks for playing

The audio and graphics are really good. Cute characters. I can see that gameplay is also very responsive but can't survive more than 3 sec. I tried to play 15-20 times with no luck. Would be better if we had some time to learn how to use controls.

Developer

Ya, it is really tricky. Also thanks for trying to play the game.
