Lockheart Indigo is really fun historical/technological adventure/mystery game.
The game involves our MC Beatrice, the blue-haired detective, investigating the murder of the head of the Volknov Robotics company. You explore the mansion, solve puzzles, unlock rooms using keys you find throughout, and interview suspects.
The interview style reminds me a little of the Psyche-Locke from Phoenix Wright:Ace Attorney, as you have to whittle away at the defenses of suspects using a variety of facts, heart-based appeals, and angry accusations.
The art itself is retro but has a definite charm, as the spites during the interrogations have a ton of character.
I also like the exploration aspect, as it encourages getting to know the house and makes finding where to go next easier.
All-in-all, although moving around can feel a little clunky and some of the interrogations feeling a little up-to-chance on the best approach to take down the suspects, it's a game with atmosphere, suspense, action, and a satisfying ending
Verdict 4/5, Very Good
Beautiful piece of work. In terms of pixel art and animation it's damn near flawless. I have gripes about elements of game design (robots spawning next to doorways and save points is just uncool), and the music isn't anything to write home about aside from a few notable tracks that really stand out of the crowd, but overall this game appeals to me on a personal level way more than just about any other RM game.
Everything about this game is wonderful. From the design, visuals , music and story telling, it all ties in very well into this one game.
Overall, the game is not too difficult, but challenging enough. oh- and it's definitely a blast to play!
Dialogue and story is fun and amusing, and the game is quite forgiving in terms of making mistakes; which I quite appreciate, but in a way that prevents sequence-breaking or soft locking the game (this is coming from someone who has a tendency to break almost every single game they've played! so great job!!). Talking about progression, there's still a small difficulty curve as the story progresses which keeps things interesting, and a bit of a jump in difficulty after a certain point (or maybe I'm just bad...?) but I never found the game to be too frustrating.
Some parts of the story are intentionally obscured to the end, which I have mixed feelings about, but perhaps it's to make room for future content/creations? >:3c
Anyway, you won't hear complaints from me about that.
There are minor audio bugs (music cutting and repeating when leaving/entering some rooms) but nothing game-breaking as far as i'm aware.
Overall, a very well made and solid game with wonderful art, music, as well as story. ^u^)/ <3
