How does your game fit the theme?
You have to absorb water to stay alive. besides that the absorbed amount of water is a mechanic of strength and jump height.

Other things you want to share with the players of your game.
Due to lack of time I did not create what I was intended to. ( a puzzle platformer) So i've tested a few mechanics out and made a small speedrun game. Can you beat my time?

Cool concept with the water and jump power etc ๐Ÿ˜Š!

GAMEPLAY
The game idea and mechanic is very nice. But for me the controls were maybe a bit to slippery. I often fell of the edges even when I thought that was an ok jump. Maybe that could be tightened up a bit in an update. I read something about platform puzzles. That would be a cool addition also for an update. But the game was fun to play and interesting concept ๐Ÿ˜Š!

GRAPHICS/ART
Simple 8-bit pixel art but was all in coherent style and fitted well together with the audio also.

AUDIO
Fine 8-bit up tempo track that fitted well with the graphic also. The jump sound could use some variations I think.

THEME
Cool concept with the water and health and jump power.

Job well done and a good little game ๐Ÿ’ช!

Thanks for the feedback! Noticed a lot about the slippery stuff. Didn't experience this myself with testing but maybe I am a pro gamer. (lol) I'll take that into next game jam! Thanks for the feedback! Appreciate it.

the game is good, good spin on the theme, but, really, the player is too slippery

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback! Yes I've noticed that more people said this. Next time I'll pay more attention to this! Thanks again!

Simple concept game. The player is slippery on the edge, so that's one thing annoying. I like the sound effects you put to the character. The platformer is quite solid as I can sense you add jump buffer and coyote time in it. I didn't beat your time, but I will soon. It's quite a solid game. I wish you could make the puzzle platformer game, but this is good enough. Good job.

I love this game congratulation !!

Simple concept, but very fun game!

Great game, I enjoyed playing it. It was exactly the right balance between frustrating and fun ;-) Made me wanna continue and not give up.
Since you said you originally intended to create a puzzle platformer: have you tried adjusting the mechanic so that you only shrink/lose water whenever you are moving? That way, you have some time to think about your route while you are standing still, without the time pressure.

Developer

Hey that sounds like a nice mechanic! I'll defenitely try that ou! Thanks for the kind words <3

Great use of the theme. I really enjoyed playing this. Gameplay was generally pretty fun although I did get frustrated at the difficulty of that last section - Iโ€™m not very good at games though so it might just be me. My main criticism would be that camera movement felt jarring at times. I would suggest experimenting with some values in Cinemachine to make it feel smoother for the player.

Developer

Yes i've also noticed the camera jittering. It's because the localascale of the player gets adjusted every frame. so the camera moves with it. i've figured out to late what was happening and didnt have time for a fix. Thanks for the feedback! Appreciate it!

new Idea, it would be easer for all people if there was more than one way to move (e.g. w to jump or the arow keys) it was hard for me to jump with the space key and all the one block platform was hard to jump on it and dont fall off,

other than that a very good idea and very good game :)

Developer

I've noticed in the comment that a few people had difficulty with the platforming. Maybe I am just a pro gamer haha. Have to balance it a bit more, I'll take that feedback for next game jam!

Had a little trouble with the left-hand controls, but I still managed to get to the finish flag. Had a good time with the shrinking/higher jump mechanic and the music was was really good. Interesting we both made platformers that involved jumping in water.

this is an unique spin on the theme, ngl :) the mechanics are quite challenging -although the platforming can be very frustrating- and the graphics are simple but real cute! overall, I think it has potential and I 'd love to see a full fledged game with this idea <3

one downside I want to mention, the game does not go completely fullscreen but it just fills the page window (at least that happens on my end), making it hard to see the edges of the screen

Thanks for the kind words! Yes I am always struggling with the size and scaling, I never get it right. I already got the tip on how to fix it but ye... I am not allowed. Thanks again!

Nicely done .... i enjoyed it very much! ... a little hard to play for me, im not the best player ... but feels very fun for me to play. Goog Job :D

Great use of the theme. The colliders bouncing you _hard_ off the edges made it too hard for me, not a platformer guy at the best of times.

Submitted(+1)

you made the theme better than me.

i like the game with the idea everything is cool until the end the platform is small but i like it after all

great game
