How does your game fit the theme?
The protagonist makes the mistake of drinking before flying an airplane, causing her to be incapable of comprehending direction and crashing on a magical island she needs to escape from. There are also some minor consequence related parts of the game, like Janice needing to get magic because saving her drained the fairies' and rescuing the rock that fell avoiding the crashing plane.

I liked the dialogue, it was really fun. The game may feel a little slow, but with time and practice it could become great. Characters are charismatic and the concept is interesting. Just, try to be the clearest that you can with the controls and the ways to interact with the enviroment, the simplest choices could make the difference.

Developer

Thanks. I was thinking I never did get to mention use arrows and WASD to move and I just realized I forgot to say press M to get magic from the mushrooms. That was one of the few features I actually got to enable and I doubt anyone got to see it, cause who would think of pressing M if the game had not told them :(

Anyway, glad you appreciated the story. I want either drastically speed up the text or find a way to make it auto complete on double tapping since even I find waiting for it to finish appearing tedious. Also think I might add a Skip option to go straight to the action.

A game with a nice concept that will needs some fine-tuning to finish ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ.

GAMEPLAY
The extensive introductory text, while engaging and accompanied by appealing graphics/sounds, might be a bit overwhelming for players eager to jump into the action. Streamlining that big narrative introduction could enhance the game's pacing and accessibility. The controls for walking and jumping are well-executed, but I had difficulties with turning over the stone... And unfortunate that it was not finished but I think you learned a lot again from creating the game.

ART STYLE / VISUALS
The pixel art style is charming and cohesive, creating a visually pleasing experience. This retro aesthetic, combined with the 8-bit music, forms a harmonious and nostalgic atmosphere that many will appreciate.

AUDIO / SOUND DESIGN
The sound effects and background music are fitting and enhance the game's overall feel. The audio elements, especially during the story sections at the beginning, add to the game's charm.

INNOVATION
The game doesn't significantly innovate within its genre.

THEME
The theme of consequences seems to be present in concept but doesn't fully manifest in the gameplay.

As the game is not yet complete, it serves as a promising foundation for future updates and improvements. Keep up the good work, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this game evolves! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿ”ง

Love the style and the sounds. The animations are cute as well. Keep it up!

Graphically it is nice. There are some things to polish but it's cool.

I really liked the art style, it is very well done!. When I started hearing the music, it instantly reminded me of Terraria, I like the relaxed and interesting vibe. As others have commented, I also think there is too much text, altough I don't think this is bad for a game, probably the people here in the jam won't bother reading through it.

Although the general idea is good, and considering that it is incomplete, there is a lot of text at the beginning that takes away your desire to play.

Developer

Thanks. I am definitely going to need to find a way to speed through the text without waiting for it to finish scrolling so it is less frustrating to wait through since this game is meant to be an adventure platformer with a focus on story and interacting with characters as well as the puzzle and exploration aspects.

So much text, i couldn't skip it correctly.

Developer (1 edit)

Sorry. I would have liked to to have it set it to finish scrolling upon hitting Space twice, but I am still figuring out Yarn and the tutorial I found only showed you how to speed up the text by holding the advance key. Also did not like that I have to use a different key to start the dialogue than the one used to advance it. It's been a frustrating jam :(
