Godot Version
Godot 4.2.2!

Wildcards Used
I kind of used recursion in that you can replay the game if you didn't get all the stories correct. Other than that, nothin' lol

Game Description
A game where you have to tell people stories, but no one wants to listen.

How does your game tie into the theme?
The Folklore of the village is dying, and you can save it by telling people the stories of the village.

Hi! I just played your game and thought it was really cute, an not that it matters now but I did run into a dialogue issue when talking to Olive? (daughter turtle). Great job with your submission! I tried sending this via Discord but it wouldn't let me so I'm posting it here :)

Ah yeah, someone else found that too. I didn't write a foolproof system for the dialogue so I think that some debugging text got through. Thanks for playing, glad you liked it!

This was really cute and fun, also the message about connecting with others and teaching the folklore was so sweet :3

The babble-bloops used by each character are quite cute, and I honestly found the writing quite endearing. Part of me wanted to know what those stories were!

Wow, I love the level design! The way the player is locked to a 2D plane is really cool, gives it a storybook vibe. I also like the general aesthetic of the island. There were some blurry and stretched textures that could be fixed, but that's a minor nit-pick. The story is very cute and so are all the characters! The chicken card game scene was funny, though I was expecting them to cheat and maybe switch some of the cards around, so I was watching extra closely for anything to get swapped haha

Nice Art, Character Audio and Level Design, the gameplay is buggy though and somewhat confusing/unintuitive.

Very charming game, reminds me o Paper Mario, after telling the srory to Brutus I couldnt click on the items anymore, maybe because I talked with the goons again ? Anyway very memorable game for me, congrats !

SO CUTE. The world needs more forgs, thank you for doing your part.  Using the mouse to give things to NPCs wasn't intuitive for me, maybe have one of them grab (and show) focus while you're in dialog so you can use the wasd controls to select things/stories to give?

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I definitely think that there's probably a better way to do the stories, I had a lot of trouble with Godot's button nodes this time around, so I think that's just something to get better at. Thanks for playing!

Great game! Although I quite didn't understood that we were supposed to give item to people after starting a conversation...

Also telling stories to Olive triggers a debug text

Developer

Ah man I thought I accounted for all the debug texts, but I guess not lol, thanks for playing! Glad you liked it.

Though the world is fairly small, I enjoyed exploring it and interacting with the characters. There was a bug I noticed with the card game where you can just select each card twice and it counts as being a match. They also gave me the money twice because I played the card game twice, but money is money!

The world can always use more frog games.
