Thanks for the submission! I enjoyed all the music and sound effects that you were able to include and enjoyed racing against the clock to serve the customers.
I found the timer for the orders to be incredibly tight, and I didn't know at first that the forge could explode if the metal was left in for too long. There is a caution sign, but since I was trying to deliver an item to a customer, I kept pushing my luck to try to make it happen.
I'm happy you liked it, And thanks for playing it, I look forward to improve the game after the jam ends :)
Nice game! The core gameplay is really good and fun, and captures the forge atmosphere and catering to impatient customers well. There's just a few things that are making this a bit difficult to play. Would have liked more time between things in general. Slightly more patient customers, atleast in the initial levels. Especially the gap between the melter being ready and blowing up was too short. The blowing up itself is fantastic though. Not just from an effects point of view (which is great too), but it really gets you serious about the game. Another thing I would have liked is to stash items somewhere. Like you made a mistake in tool selection, or the customer left before you could service them. Maybe just 2/3 item slots. Often I was saved when the order didn't get done in time, but the next customer wanted the exact same tool. Building a tutorial for a jam game is no small feat, so kudos on that. Overall well done!
Solid gameplay. But the customer's patience level decays a bit too fast (I think others had pointed this out as well). But the most awkward thing for me is the use of the return key as the menu key. I've wasted quite a bit of time hitting the return key to interact with objects but opening the menu instead.
I didn't test WASD layout very well, sorry for this problem, thanks for the feedback, i really appreciate it
I love this a lot -- huge overcooked fan so this is right in the middle of me genre preferences. The snark of the customers and whimsy of having your crucible explode are both great touches and give the game a distinct sense of self. I love the additional mechanic of having to decide the tool at the anvil and how it adds challenge without significant gameplay (or dev) complexity.
The downside is basically what folks have said -- a constrained order set on the earlier levels to learn the items would have gone a long way and the timing is brutal (coming from someone who has 4-stared all of overcooked 2 and most of the DLC) unless there was a pipelining opportunity I missed.
In all this is a great entry with a fantastic twist on this style of mechanic.
Really creative concept! The gameplay loop was really fun. I love the music!!
I think it would be more approachable with a little more time in the early levels, and maybe reach the current pace by the end of the game when you've already memorized all of the tools/weapons. The difficulty curve was rather steep for this, with barely any time to spare. If you start to fall behind on the first order, there's almost no chance you'll get to the second order in time! Maybe I could have multi-tasked better, but when I tried to juggle more than one order at a time... I walked away for just a sec to deliver the axe and my forge blew up!
There was also a minor typo where it says the Axe = 3 ingots, but it actually = 2 ingots. I appreciate the Shift + K shortcut to skip the level cus I think I was about to win until I got tripped up by trying to make an axe with 3.
The game over music was really funny though and caught me off guard when I blew up my forge for the first time :P Really love all the details and charm of all the characters. It's kind of like an "overcooked" game but for crafting weapons. Very well done!
i'm really sorry for the typo mistake, now that it happened, i'll take more care into typos, thank you so much for this awesome feedback
Solid submission! Art and music give it an old school feel that I like! using that box to grab the ore and then setting it back down is the most difficult part of the game loop for me
I think this is a great spin on the overcooked style games! It fits very well. you have made it very unforgiving though, You can't make one mistake it seems (at least on level 1)! Also I think there is a typo in the help menu because an Axe takes 2 but it says 3.
yeah sadly i knew the typo problem just after i submited the game, thanks for noting that out tho, at least you knew how many iron ingots an axe takes
The gameplay loop is solid. and the music is nostalgic and great good job.
Pretty good submission! Love the music!
