Movement controls could have been tighter, but it's a fun game, really liked the effect on the forged sword based on the materials you use
This is a great idea. My biggest issue was that every time you forge a weapon, you can't add to your previous one, only craft a new one. And if you back out of creating a new one, it resets your current weapon. If your previous one is supposed to be overwritten, then I feel either the amount of material drop needs to increase, or the size of the forging sword needs to decrease. Overall though, a very solid mechanic.
Absolutely phenomenal. My only complaint is that this may not receive the attention to turn this into a complete and polished game! I
I really enjoyed the shader magic you pulled off with the sword to reflect the player's inputs! I am a little sad I can't see it for more than I swing, but I don't hold it against you, just a very unique way to display the results of creating something. It took me a second to figure out there was a whole lower half to the sword as the slider buttons didn't appear to render right, looking like a pause button for Spotify or YouTube.
My only complaints with the character are that it feels a little floaty. The lack of control over the jump made the few platforming parts a bit annoying, and I would commonly attempt to jump over a spike trap only to hit my head and fall in anyway (despite releasing jump early). The art is good though!
Great job, the concept reminds me of Scribblenauts in a way!

Thank you! I'm really happy with how the shader turned out. I think it's very satisfying to see something you make appear in the game.
As far as the floatiness goes, I was basing the movement on the original Castlevania's movement and jump style because that game is always a big inspiration source for me. In retrospect, I probably should have just made mid-air motion free. Less challenging, maybe, but less frustrating.
I really feel like the forging mechanic has a lot of potential! It was disappointing that you lose your old sword when you craft a new one though. Great start to a fun game!
Awesome spritework and forging mechanic. I wish the character's jump distance was easier to control and that you could change directions while jumping.
When you forge the sword are you adding stats or forging over the previous stats?
Great entry.
Very Prince of Persia feel. I absolutely loved the trail texture effects. Kudos!!
Guys, I’m loving the sprite artwork. Also, you can see the colors of the used minerals when you slash. Exactly at the spots where you placed them! Very nice.
I’m confused though, why use LMB instead of a keyboard key for slashing?
Think I’ve slashed my way through almost all the enemies. If it’s not a spoiler: how do I get on the top plateau with the skeleton and the stacked barrels?
wow bro this awesome, I'm really curious how did you manage to change the look of the sword using the forge mechanic that seems super hard. Awesome game btw.
Thank you! That's some shader trickery I cooked up. The sword and sword slash sprites on the character are actually plain red and green gradients. When you finish a sword, which is basically just you drawing colors on a canvas, I remap the drawing with code into a square texture and plug it into the sword's shader. The shader uses the red and green pixels of the sword sprite as coordinates to reference that texture. The result is that the sword you make becomes the sword you see in play!
Good idea for the forge theme. It did take me a little to understand how the forge worked. It might help other players if you put some instructions in the description or something. Either way, good work!
Thank you! I agree, more instruction would have been nice to add. That and the option to cancel forging are the two things I wish I'd had time for.
