I love the look of this game. I found it a bit hard using a touchpad lol

Submitted(+2)

Well done! The game was fun to play and had a cool interpretation of the theme. Nice graphics and audio as well :)

Submitted(+2)

I love how polished this game feels, and the audio is also really well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing and for the comment! :D

This is really imprssive for a 9 day jam. Hope yalls work pays off!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks, you're very kind! Truthfully, this was our first jam in such a large team (4 people), and we're also surprised by how much we were able to accomplish in a handful of days :)

I think I agree with the majority of the comments below: this game is excellent on many levels, sound and graphics being particular highlights. The weak point is understanding what the heck is going on! Played a few times now and it's over before you blink! Now I've read the comments I _think_ I might understand enough so I'm gonna try again!

Submitted(+1)

Hmm played again and did a bit better, but still lost fairly quickly. Might need a few tips!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for your feedback!

Yup the game is fast. Really fast. :D We tried to target a gameplay session that was at most 5 minutes not to bore the player. I can give you a few tips though.

Tsunamis recharge faster, but have less range (they only hit a city), and you don't have to stop an ongoing research as soon as you find it.

Many cities have several disasters near them: you can choose the best one depending on the ongoing researches, the availability and your missions.

Rotate the world often as a new research could start in any ("idle") city, and don't forget to upgrade! It'll shorten the disaster cooldown time or increase damage.

Submitted(+1)

Lol, I did not realise you could rotate the world!!!

That explains so much!

Submitted(+2)

Played again with rotate, did much better but still lost! Much more fun tho!

WOW. Very nice game. I liked how it looks. Its an intereting idea and original take on the theme (like many games here). But yours different. its well made and polished and looks so good. I loved it

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! You're right, the theme of this jam inspired a lot of original ideas, and I'm currently playing so many good games thanks to it! :)

The screenshot really drew me in. Love the aesthetic of the game. It was a little tough to understand what was going on at first - and how I was 'progressing', but it was a neat game. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, we're happy that you liked (and that the screenshot fulfilled its promises) :D

I loved this take on the theme, super unique. The models and shading were very appealing. Also really appreciated the UI allowing me to see light-bulbs even though I was kind of rotated away from it. Tho, since I was constantly moving and trying to keep track of cooldowns, the level-up was kinda an afterthought. Nevertheless, I think this was a great submission and perhaps some nice commentary on humans.

Developer

Thank you!!

Truthfully, we sometimes feared that the level up UI was too out of sight during the game session since a lot of things happen on the planet. We were also thinking about pausing the game and inviting the player to choose an upgrade, but we decided against it because we feared it would break the player's involvement/concentration and we were running out of time.

Submitted(+2)

Fun interpretation of the theme! Very nice visuals across the board, the UI design was great, the 3D models were pretty, and the cell shading worked nicely with all of it. I also really liked the different natural disasters and the way they were grouped up for leveling up.

I found it a little hard to move as fast as I wanted on my trackpad, but I was still able to win eventually after a handful of tries. It also helped that I better understood what I was doing after two or three attempts. I sometimes had a little trouble matching up with the cooldown images with the 3D objects on the earth but eventually figured it out well enough. It would have been nice if they were more similar though.

Regardless, great job, this was a lot of fun!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing and giving us your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed our entry. :)

This is a great jam submission. The game is well polished, and has a clear gameplay loop that is a humorous take on the theme. It took me a bit to recognize what I was supposed to do, I got distracted by the population counters and tried to target the highest city with whatever natural disaster I could find near them. I think because I was immediately pressured with the task of getting rid of the parasite I didn't connect that the light bulb is what I needed to target.

The only things I can even think to critique is I would have liked to have had some visual indication of the disasters being ready to be used. I was just flying around scribbling my mouse on the disasters near cities hoping to find one that was recharged. I also didn't really have time to pay attention to what the upgrades did. Not sure if there's anything that can be done about that, perhaps having a level up button that opens a popup to pause the game and let you pick what you wanted. But I'm just nitpicking at this point, these are minor complaints that didn't really harm my experience.

Excellent job.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot for your detailed feedback! You gave a lot of information about what you - as a player - experienced, and that's very useful for us. We'll try to improve the game in the direction that you and others suggested :)

Besides that, we're happy that you liked it! Thanks again for trying it :D

Submitted(+1)

Really enjoyed this! Admittedly I did spam disasters on my first try until I read the description

Developer(+1)

AH! AH! Typical newbie error :P
Glad you like it :)

Submitted(+2)

Great game concept. I like the clean look of the UI as well. Good job! :3

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, we're happy that you enjoyed it :D

Submitted(+2)

Interesting concept! I was a bit confused on how I interact with the world, but got the grips later on. It's a bit weird as we humans contribute to these disasters happening so...

Developer(+1)

Thank you! It's nice to read that you managed to play it properly in the end :D

To answer your second comment, we're aware that this game might touch some hot topics, and I agree it's a bit weird. When one of us came up with this idea of "being the Earth and fighting colonizing parasites", we immediately loved how it sounded, especially because it allowed us to subvert perspectives and show humans "from outside", which is always good :)

Submitted(+2)

Very cool game, losing 3 times made me read the description more carefully and finally win:)

Though i'd add ability to skip intro, it's too long if you start over several times

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing our game! We're happy that you were able to win in the end, even if it required multiple attempts... We'll try to add more in-game hints, so that players are walked through the learning process :)

The suggestion on the skippable intro is also spot-on, thanks a lot!

Submitted(+2)

An interesting take on the theme! Very polished as well :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We're happy that you tried and liked it :)

Developer(+2)

That's the sequel :)

Submitted(+2)

Nicely polished. Very impressive UI elements.

Took me a couple of tries before I realized the round buttons weren't buttons.

I imagine it's easy for you, knowing the internals, but I found it a bit challenging.

Developer

As you imagined, every game is easier for the people who created it, and that's why playtesting and feedbacks like yours are so important to understand how the game is perceived by other players. So thank you, we appreciate it and we'll try to tune the difficulty! :)

Submitted(+2)

Very fun concept! This is the kind of game I could find myself playing again and again, this would be great as a full length game.

Developer

Thank you, it's good to read this kind of comments *-*

Beautiful 3D art. The gameplay is also smooth, seems well engineered, and runs well in the web. Good sound and music, too.

As others have stated, figuring out the controls (rotating the planet, what I needed to click, what I didn't) took the first playthrough and was a bit demoralizing to lose so quickly. In my specific case, I thought I needed to click a disaster on the left before I used it, and that the bar had to charge up before I could use the higher up disasters. Just a misunderstanding of the UI. Once I understood, the gameplay was quite smooth, and I won my 2nd game.

Really great submission! Look forward to seeing more from the team :-)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your detailed comment, you're really helping us by describing your gameplay and we couldn't appreciate it more!

Regarding the UI, we'd need to fix it in a way that doesn't make you throw away your first game ^^" We already wanted to add a proper in-game tutorial on controls, but - as you know - time in the game jams is never enough, and we needed to focus on something else...

Anyway, happy to know that the game worked well afterwards, and congratulations for your winning :D

Submitted(+2)

Really awesome game! The concept is really good and I can see it being developed in a more fully fledged product, well done!

If I can point out something that I would improve is the visibility of where the technologies are being developed and the catastrophes that you can activate by changing the color of the elements on the map (something like a darker color, nothing too complicated).

Again, well done!

Developer

Thanks! You're right, the visibility of certain UI elements is not helping the gameplay... We planned to implement markers and colors for disasters, but we discovered there wasn't an easy solution for 3D, and so we focused on something else ^^" We'll try to fix it in the next release, since you're asking for complete product! :)

Thanks again for playing the game, we're very happy that you enjoyed it!
