Fun game, and I like the shader you used to make the game look like a retro tv. There is definitely a learning curve to this game, I found it very difficult first, then as I play more, it gets easier every time as I memorize the location code and. I think this is a good difficulty balance where player has to learn to get good at the game. If you decide to keep working on the game, I believe more upgrades,  maybe special skills, and perhaps bosses would make the game more interesting?

Love this concept! Reminds me of some of the typing tutor games I played as a kid to learn to type - but this requires some fast reflexes and prediction. As someone else says, it's like a cross between battleships and Missile Command. Everything feels quite well rounded and thought out. Exactly the right look and feel for a retro arcade game.

Nice use of the gridlock wildcard. I found the concept simple but refreshing, a fun quick-paced arcade game. Good work!

Fun and interesting game - i like it!

Nice retro game with a cool core mechanic. Missile Command meets Battleship.

I wish I had some better constructive feedback for you, but I can't think of what would take this game to the next level. It's perfect for what it's trying to accomplish.

Developer

Very high praise. Thank you!

Really cool game! Very retro feel, and the gameplay was really unique. I really enjoyed playing this. Great job!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it!

The aesthetic and music are really nice! I like the idea, it would be nice to have the gun move and fire within a second to make the starting difficulty a bit more forgiving.

Developer(+1)

Yep it's hard! Did you try chill mode?

When you make a skill based game, it's hard to judge the skill required when you're playing it over and over. Something for next time!

Developer

Came back and played after a few days break. Even for me, this game is hard :P

Oh wow, the retro aesthetic of this is amazing! *-* I loved how you were able to represent a graphic style - and the hardware on which it was present - with so much accuracy, you did a fantastic job!

The gameplay is not easy, but somehow I managed to resist a bit. It's fun, though! Congratulations for your entry, I enjoyed it a lot!

Thank you so much. You're too kind :)

Do try out chill mode if you wanted it to be a bit easier. I should have made that the default difficulty!

Incredible game! Love the overall aesthetics and it was a ton of fun to frantically try to anticipate where each parasite would be and the best order to shoot them in. Nice touch to have different playmodes as well. Awesome job!

Developer

thanks so much!

I've been following the dev updates you posted on the GWJ discord! Knew this was going to be special when you found the CRT shader. Really nailed the retro feel of the game + the grided wildcard. The music matched perfectly as well. I went straight for the Hard mode and got destoryed by my poor aim. Amazed that you managed to add in upgrades as well in such a short time.
A lot of nice minute details too, such as the arc of the arty shots, and the visual cue text on the state of the artillery. One of the most polished games I've played so far. Can see people playing this on the go it there is a way to accomodate the controls for touch.

Developer

Those are some really nice words.

I added the curve to the arty about 2 hours before I submitted lol. Quickly learned about bezier curves to get it done.

Thank you :)

I really liked how the game looked like an old CRT screen. Very fun game!

Thanks for playing!

I really liked the game. It felt like I was operating a long-range anti-aircraft gun. I felt that the game got easier as I amassed multiple upgrades. Maybe increasing enemy spawns would be beneficial to balance it out?

Developer

Thanks for playing!

How long did you last? I've only been able to survive 10 minutes on hard mode. The speed of enemies increase with every level, so the longer you play, the harder it gets.

Really got that old arcade-vibe, including music, gameplay and artstyle. The start is a little bit hard, since you can't estimate the traveltime, but gets better over time!

Developer

Thank you for playing. It definitely gets easier after a few tries. I know this is a game jam but I wasn't trying to make a single play experience.

Very cool. Love the art style. A little hard for me but with a few more rounds I think I'd get it. Really well done.

Developer

Thank you! What was your high score?

Pretty fun game, gets a bit chaotic but in a fun way

Developer

It definitely gets chaotic. Thanks for playing!

Very interesting game. reminds me a lot about battleship

Developer

Thanks for playing.

I've heard it compared to missile command, space invaders, duskers and now battleship. It's cool that it triggers people's nostalgia.

What did you find interesting about it?
