Game Description
A socio-political dialogue-focused non-chess game about ascending to power.
How does your game tie into the theme?
Ascent is the core point of the plot - everyone just reads it in a different way. Our main purpose is to rise i.e. ascend to power, reaching the final square - which is kind-of a medieval way to gain power, but it's more symbolic than literal.

It's a very original game with a quite well-crafted atmosphere. Good job!
That was awesome themed, a revolution against tyranny that unites all different pawns in a single mutual reason.
it's also really beautiful with the lights.
It's Pawny! Awesome atmosphere! I'm impressed with all of the systems in this too, dialog isn't easy.
At first I thought I was supposed to be the white pawn, so I was wondering why the camera wouldn't move to the next area, but I did eventually figure it out :)
Dialogue is just a loop with yields and Nathan Hoad's plugin inside :p
Yeah, if I get to release a post-jam version, I should probably add more visual hints about controls lol
Really cool idea and atmosphere! I liked the graphics and the different creative camera angles. I couldn't really figure out how to move the pawns though. Whenever I moved, the others would start moving and it didn't make a ton of sense. In addition, I was confused on how to get the camera to move from one scene to another. The dialogue was really cool! Overall, it was a really neat game. Just a little hard to control the pawns.
Very unique and I like the take on the theme. Loved the dialogues.
It was a bit confusing when I was rotating one piece and the 2nd one was rotating as well, but then I figured out that it is moving by itself :)
Cool ending, I checked out the website, project looks interesting. I wish you luck with updates to this one and other projects :)
And I played on Firefox (Linux) and except for some lags during loading, game ran well.
Keep it up!
It didn't seem right to make a happy ending so i added Dark from my main project :P
Lags during loading are expected since I didn't really have time to implement a background loader
Also, FIREFOX WORKS?? Yo, didn't work for me. Maybe my setup or nvidia drivers are at fault. Now i feel bad for being unable to remove the browser check lol
Exports work in mysterious ways... I had many headaches with them this jam :)
Great work! Good music and artwork
Lovely world building! Great atmosphere and very unique concept. Controlling my pawn army was tricky at points and I would maybe have gone for a click to select a pawn and they key controls for rotation and moving forwards. First jam entry!? Impressive!
That's the first game I fully (save for the music) made and published!
It was supposed to be a puzzle, but i had to scrap this idea lol
Take pawn navigation as a puzzle of its own :P
Impressive, love the artwork and the presentation!
Ambitious game! I had trouble controlling myself versus the other pawns, and kept accidentally clicking on pawny when trying to get him to move. That was my biggest issue. I like the level design and the dialog with all the unique characters, I think this has a lot of potential for a full game. Super cool idea! I’m glad there was a reachable ending that I could get to within the first five minutes.
Thanks! You can actually see how I planned to implement better controls by talking to recruited Pawny - they have several options that assist the player. It was not implemented for others and is not explicitly mentioned because it's partially scrapped...
