Really impressed with the character maker! Really incredible pixel art

As someone who loves hats and collects hats in real life, this was a very legit experience! Hats off to you!

Very good looking and polished game! The elevator ride was cool.

I feel like I pressed E waaay too many times. I think maybe selecting an option could have been enough, and the insults could have appeared directly after that, being erased when you select next action... Not sure!

The transitions between the different pieces of music was a bit disturbing, I think having only the fight disco music and maybe expanding on that piece, playing it without interupts would have been more smooth.

Otherwise this was a real gem, very well made. A real tutorial and all.

Great job here!

While a game with insults isn't what I enjoy playing, I'll leave my technical opinion: excellent music and graphics, well-executed character customization, a functional combat mode that blends conversation and action (a mix of Pokémon and The Monkey Island where pirates fight with phrases). The concept of earning hats with abilities is interesting. This is an enormous piece of work and perfectly executed in all technical aspects.

This is a well polished entry with lots of great pluses. It's a fun idea, the artwork is on point, the humour is very "Monkey Island" with the insult fighting.

The instructions and rules are overwhelming at first and I wonder if it would have been better to just use the "damage" and "defence" instead of proxies like wit.

The like to the theme feels a bit bolted on, but I love how original the hat idea is and how stacking up hats works as a mechanic and as a visual

This game is so ridiculously polished that I didnt believe that it was made during the jam time until I saw the number of creators and the previous games they made lol

Really awesome job!

It's a great nostalgic throwback to some other classic 90s games!

Theme: Adhered well to the game jam, the unique hat stacking mechanic was a delight to see.

Fun: Overall, the game was fun! There were some moments where we were overly excited, like for the elevator and end boss. (Don't ask us why)

Controls: Controls felt native to the sidescroller-style game. We want to jump!

Graphics:  The game fits the theme well for pixel art.

Audio: The theme of the music was good. The fight /battle music could have been more robust to amp the player during insults, yet the atmospheric music was on point.

Accessibility: There were very minor cognitive pieces missing, this does not detract from the effort and fun rating of the game.

Originality: This game was beyond original, who would have thought to have a stack of HATS in a game to use as insult ammo? !

Play it!

That's cool, a lot of hats that are so good to see, also the character customization is awesome, of course I did Luffy in it and fitted very well!

Just in the end I thing the "final boss" is too overwhelming to battle him, since you take just 1 hat at a time and he has a lot of hats.

Congrats and good luck!

Interesting take on the theme.

I should have read the instructions more carefully but was able to keep winning hats regardless.

I also had the same problem viewing the hats abilities (was playing on web).

Did the final opponent lose their hats when I beat her? I felt like it was endless

Wow. A character creator with a randomizer? Awesome! :D

Amazing music, gets me into insult battling mood.

The hat stack got me laughing out loud... Amazing, unique idea for a game.

Hovering over hats was a bit buggy, I couldn't read what each was doing (maybe it's because I was using web build) - UI was either flashing or not appearing at all.

Great pixelart in the characters and the environment.

Unfortunately it froze for me at 2nd bouncer (web build), but I will give it another go with desktop version tomorrow.

Great game, well done!
