I appreciated the idea behind it. I kinda think that there's mayyyybe a pun in the name or is it just me? ;P
I didn't like that the parry action lasted "one turn". Also, you couldn't "move and parry".

I liked that there were different levels that you could unlock.

The art is nice. I liked the setting.

Thank you for the feedback! No pun intended, I don't even know what the pun would be 😅. And about parrying, you should be able to do it many times in a row, I could block and attack 4 or 5 times until I blocked the wrong way and got hit. By the way, there are two types of attack, direct or from above (holding up), so you should also block accordingly (pressing block or up+block)

Hey, he attacked me even if I was blocking! :P

Nice submission, it's good to see a 1v1 fighting game entry! The graphics are clear and really help to focus on the match, but maybe the black bars on grey background are not so visible.

I appreciated the fact that you can unlock different levels. Games in Jams' contexts are often tried for a couple of minutes at most, so I was relieved to be able to try a bit of every level, and even see the final ending! It made me appreciate your entry even more :)

Great job!

Thank you for the feedback! I thought the same, not everyone will be willing to spend much time to master one game, but everyone should be able to see all the content regardless.
And I would argue that you were not blocking properly 😆

Funny idea! I think it was a bit hard to actually out maneuver the NPC and you can abuse it by just spamming attack and standing still. But I also was able to beat him by blocking first and attacking then! I also liked the visual setting.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Blocking and counter-attacking is the intended way of playing, so I'm glad you figured it out. Did you play the 4 levels? I realized after submitting that I didn't include any indication that there is some progress everytime you win, so maybe it feels like it is an infinite loop.

I played only 3 levels and thought it is always same :O

Really cool to see a fighting game entry! It was quite challenging though. I liked the bit of back story and the art.

Thank you for the feedback! Do you think it would have been easier if the attack animations had more frames?

Submitted(+1)

I think more frames would have helped! But I've never made a fighting game before so I'm not super familiar with how to implement them.
