I got to the end of the colossal creature level and it got stuck on "level completed." I hope that means I reached the end because that was quite cool! The controls were very fluid, and the mechanics felt really good. I was able to really use double jumps and wall jumps strategically because there was no thought going into adapting to the feel.
That said I did notice that the mushroom enemies were very difficult to kill. It seems like jumping on their heads would either work or not work at random, and they could get multiple hits on me in rapid succession which felt rather unfair.
The other small but glaring thing is that using move_and_slide_with_snap for the moving platforms would have helped quite a lot since the horizontal one didn't grip the character at all and the diagonal one glitched out a bit.
The colossal creature level was also not hard but very confusing. The biggest challenge was figuring out what I could stand on or jump through and what I couldn't. :D
Another tiny side note is that the music was well made but felt a bit extra for what was going on most of the time. It would have made a really good boss battle track though!
All things considered I had a lot of fun with this entry and regard it quite highly. Well done!
Thanks! Yeah, I definitely could have tested this better
nice game . but controls are hard
Thanks!
Really loved the feeling of the controls. The player movement felt very nice. I usually struggle with wall jumps, but they were implemented very intuitively here.
I wasn't able to get very far. No matter what I did at the first double mushroom platform, I always took damage. Even when they weren't attacking. This prevented me from having enough health to get the to second platform with two mushrooms.
I'm going to have to come back and try it again. Great entry!
Thanks! Yeah, the detection damage is a bit wonky. I guess I should have looked at a tutorial for it or something
This reminded me of how bad I am at platform games. I made it to the end though! In the last level, I had a hard time telling where I can step on. It is a very fun little game indeed!
Thank you!
Alright thanks for the feedback!
This was a lot of fun. Impressive amount of platforming for a jam. Love the art style and the Minotaur level.
Would be nice to be able to move using the arrow keys as I found using WASD with shift a bit cramp inducing with some of the trickier areas.
You can rebind the keys in the settings menu.
Tough platformer (too tough for me, haha). I found the walk jump and double jump intuitive but struggled with the dash - as other have suggested I think having the ability to stop it part way would be nice. Congrats on the submission!
thanks!
Hitboxes were a bit broken/ too wide, make sure you give the player more room to fail. Other than that, pretty good character controller and decent music!
Thanks!
I kept forgetting the dash!
I thought you did well on implementing the platformer controls, but the difficulty was too high for my tired lil brain! I'm much better at puzzle games that hand-eye co-ordination. But I think better gamers than me will do alright here.
I didn't get very far, so I can't leave much helpful feedback. Only maybe thing about some kind of quirk, or story point, or aesthetic to bring a bit more character into your game.
Thanks for the feedback! :)
The dash killed me more often than anything. Would be nice to be able to stop the dash in mid dash.
Okay thanks for the feedback
Neat game, the music fits too! I think that controls are a little bit too loose though (I was panicking a lot of times), appreciate the coyote time implemented!
Lol what I didn't implement coyote time. Maybe it's just the double jump?
oh damn, maybe! :D
Nice platformer! I think the dash is a bit hard to control, it would be great if you could choose how long you want to dash for by holding it for different amounts of time.
Thank you for the suggestion!
So, I finished the game. The game turned out to be quite difficult, despite my success in fangame platformers. Because of the long dash, the gameplay was unstable huh. The game is a little lopsided at times, but it's still fun.
Thanks! I'll try to balance it better next time!
Great job, fun platformer. Would have like a bounce off of enemy heads when you kill them. There's a definite difficulty spike after the checkpoint on level two.
Thank you!
It was great that you offered the options to remap the controls and music volume :).
I had some trouble at the last level understanding what I could stand on. You could try to paint some parts of the body with different colors so the platforms are more visible.
Great pixel art for the characters!
Thanks! (I actually just copied and pasted the code for remapping and the settings from a sample project lol)
Pretty fun, I forgot that i could dash on the third level, the big minotaur at the end looks quite good.
Thanks!
This was fun, though pretty difficult. At first I forgot about the dash pretty quickly, and couldn't beat the second level in enough time. Then remembering the dash, I swung in the other extreme of over use and over-shooting all the platforms. Couldn't quite find the flow of the levels, but I'm also not very good at high-precision platformers.
Really liked that you provided remapping of controls in the menu. The in-game music kind of hurt my ears, though ;-)
Thanks for the feedback!
