Hahaha what?! This game was fun and also ridiculous. I didn't understand why poking the exploding bacteria was bad? Good job, really creative.
Thank you for playing! The normal bacteria (the ones that are random colours) die when you poke them, and they explode your teeth once their progress bar reaches the top; the black bacteria (completely black) explode your teeth when you poke them, and they leave when their progress bar reaches the top. So basically there are some bacteria you want to kill and some you want to avoid killing. I hope that makes sense? Looking at the length of what I just wrote compared to the tutorial of the game I can see why someone might miss that XD
The game was fun! It was short, sweet, and simple, but the action was fast paced and hilarious. The toothbrush commentary was quite comedic, and overall I enjoyed playing it. Of course, the game was not very long, and a few more kinds of bacteria might be a fun idea. This game could easily be extended by implementing a "level" system with greater challenges, or maybe even new abilities to attack the bacteria, but for a game jam this was a simple, effective, and well made.
Thanks for playing and for the comment!!
Really cool idea, especially the exploding bacteria that slowly crush your teeth. Pretty solid game!
Hey, welcome to GWJ :)
Nice game! I thought the variety of bugs was well thought out, and the bubble bug was particularly clever. I was a bit confused about the win condition - perhaps having some sort of feedback/points in the UI might help. Overall, fun concept, very nostalgic look and feel, good controls. Well done!
Thank you for playing and for the feedback! There seems to be a trend of people being confused about the win condition. I really should try to make some time for play testers in the future :P
Very fresh concept and idea, adheres to the theme in an unique way too ! Also good job for you first music! Controls are smooth, it is like playing bacterial whack-a-mole, very engaging and fun. A thing that I would suggest is adding some sort of score for a "reward system", or maybe a certain point you have to reach. I was a bit muddled on when the game should end or what is the goal to the game. Other than that, really amazing entry!
Yeah maybe something like that would be less confusing. I got another comment saying they were confused of the goal/when it ends. Currently I have bacteria spawn in "phases" and when the last phase ends, that's when the toothbrush appears. It is also timed with the end of the music.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Is it correct that the game ends after the first activity on the wall?
I think the game was fun, it felt like a longer version of a Warior Ware game.
I'm not sure what the effect of touching the black bacteria is, and sometimes they would be the only bacteria showing up (which makes avoiding them trivial - you don't need to do anything!).
Yeah, the bacteria generation is random so sometimes you do get parts where it's all the black bacteria. One of the "phases" was designed to have mostly black bacteria so you would have to carefully poke in between them to get to the other ones. Maybe the numbers could have used some tweaking.
Also yeah it does end after the toothbrush appears at the wall. I guess it makes it seem like there's going to be more stuff at the wall. Really the wall is quite useless and more of a distraction to be honest.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Haha, never knew we had explosive bacteria in our bodies...well if was pretty fun and interesting to play!
I just love this idea.
