Really cool concept, however it felt more like rote memorization than a game. Memory games are fun, but with this game it is basically trial-and-error for the first while before you begin to catch on (at which point it becomes more engaging). Perhaps you could introduce short words with similar letters early on to practice some core letters before adding new ones which must be discovered? This would lead to developing muscle memory sooner and I think would have more of that "Aha" feeling. Additionally, I feel like a visual on screen keyboard layout could have been a kinder addition, and the WPM feature could be more of a focus for the "score".
The graphics and audio were very well fitting, and with a few gameplay touch-ups this could be a really cool and fun game. It's almost there, but its more frustrating than rewarding at the current state.
Good job! This is a really strong submission.
All strong suggestions, thank you.
I didn't realise what my worst nightmare was until now. Thank you for including a cheat option!
Really nice empathy-inducing idea with a perfectly matched atmosphere. Needless to say, I performed horrendously and am very grateful for my current set up. :) Excellent work!
Thanks for playing!
....once you know a thing, it's too easy to forget what it was like to not know that thing...
Nice gem with the cheat option
now THIS is a real horror game...jeez at first i read the comment "Looking at the keyboard will not help you", i thought, pfff, this wont be that bad....right?
All in all, amazing concept, really unique, but i'm not coming back
Love the concept; this reminds me of my personal struggle when I switched from QWERTY to Dvorak. The aesthetics looks great with the vhs artifacts and the ambient noise. Great job!
That was the inspiration! I could type 90wpm in qwerty, having been in typing classes since age 8. There were two months where I couldn't type over 40wpm in either qwerty or dvorak while I was relearning....
Simple idea well executed! thanks for the cheat mode :) Quite hard but pleasantly hard
Extremely good idea, the game was very eerie in a particular way, thanks kindly for adding a cheater mode ;)
That is just about the nicest thing anybody has ever said to me. Thanks for playing.
This is a super hilarious and creative concept, but it is pretty much just a guessing game. I think it would be more fun if your keys didn't randomize for every word... Or at least I think they're randomizing?.. Hopefully my knowledge of typing isn't the only thing I lost...
They randomize once at the beginning of the game, but it should keep the same keyboard the entire playthrough. It should allow you to learn an entirely new layout.
....if that's not the case, it's a bug I'd like to know about.
...regardless, the whole game is really a music experiment.
Okay, I played it again and I have no idea what was going on last time. Maybe I was just going crazy or something. Anyways it worked fine and it was a pretty interesting and fun memory challenge.
Thanks for coming back!
Cool idea. I have cheated a bit by just sliding the finger over all keys but it still took quite a while to get these words together.
The VHS shader is super cool and the idea certainly is original. But good lord it is hard!
The VHS shader is amazing. Credit is in the description- not mine.
A beautiful game, I love your shaders! Hilarious concept, well executed. I hated every minute of it. It's like an alzheimers simulator, hahaha.
I love your analogy. I learned the Dvorak keyboard in my 20s and it broke my brain. I'm really happy I can share that feeling with you.
