The graphics and whole shadow puppet idea was really creative and fun! I thought that the scorpions took a little too long to kill. Was fun to play. Good job!
Hey, thanks for playing! Yes the scorpions could use a bit more balance. Glad you liked it :)
I really liked the art style here, and the large open areas and character progression gave the game a grand sense of scale. Nice work!
Thanks so much for playing - much appreciated! Very happy you liked it 😊
Nice game! I really like the graphics and this shadow theatre theme. I'm glad that you include key mapping options because for me shooting with "v" was not really intuitive.
In overall, good job! :>
Thanks so much for playing! I'm glad you liked the game and found the key mapping useful!
I really liked the aesthetics overall!
I liked how the feeling of "leveling up" was emulated through the strength pick ups through the levels, whereas the first scorpion felt like a menace, by the last level I was handling enemies with ease.
One thing that I can point out --due to it being a pet peeve of mine-- is that if you keep the jump button pressed, the character will jump at the moment that it reaches the floor. Not really an actual flaw, but a nitpick, rather.
Thanks for the feedback! That's exactly what we wanted with the powerups. We would have liked to extend it with different and multiple weapons as well (not just the blade), but didn't want to over-scope too much.
I think you mean how the character will jump straight away if the jump is held down? I'm not sure what the consensus is on that. There is a jump buffer implemented so if you press jump close to the floor you will jump regardless, to make the controls easier. I wonder if it would be better to only jump when the key is pressed rather than held down which would still work with jump buffering.
Thanks again :)
I LOVE the art style of this game. The shadow puppet "lost tech" theme is really fun and interesting. I love the voice acting too. I honestly wouldn't have minded a story based platformer - I didn't think the attacking added much to the game. If you keep the attacking, I think the hits need to be more satisfying or the scorpion enemies need to take less hits to kill. Your game is wonderful overall!
Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm really glad you like the look of the game, credit to our excellent artist Sophia!
I agree, we would love to make it more of a story-based platformer, and finding more ways to incorporate story would be great. The combat does need to be more interesting, and it needs tuning overall as the scorpions take a few too many hits to kill and at the same time aren't that threatening.
Thanks again :)
Big props to Sophia. I think with very small changes this could be a really unique game. Good luck :)
Hey, thanks for the kind words! Really glad you enjoyed our game :)
Really wonderful visual aesthetic. Congrats on the game!
Really happy you like it, thanks!
Cool graphics! The scorpions have a bit too much HP to my taste so it's slowing down the pace. Thanks for the game :)
Thank you for the feedback! Yes I feel the scorpions aren't that threatening but at the same time take too long to kill. The game could use a bit more balancing. Perhaps by increasing their damage and lowering their health or finding another way to make combat more interesting.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Very cool! I loved the aesthetic and theme :) unfortunately I think the final boss despawned on me (maybe fell into a pit?). I saw the giant but went back up to obtain some more collectables. I'm not exactly sure when it happened, but when I went back down later he wasn't there anymore. There was no key/elixer for the next gate either :( so sadly I did not get to the end
Thank you so much for playing - it really means a lot.
I know exactly what you mean - I noticed it but it was too late to fix. So, I accidentally made the boss to easy to kill, so in shooting the other scorpions, you accidentally kill it off screen I think. It drops the key without you noticing and the key blends into the black foreground so you cant see it. (but it is there and you can pick it up if you walk around the boss area).
Again, thanks so much for playing and for taking the time to leave a comment. Really happy you enjoyed the aesthetic and the theme. :)
Ah, I suspected that so I walked around a lot looking for/hoping to accidentally pick up the key, but that didn't work out for me :( I have already closed the game so unfortunately too late to try and finish it. Thanks for letting me know, though!
Just the interpretation of the theme itself is really impressive, solid work on creating a unique aesthetic with an engaging narrative!
Thank you! That means a lot!
Wow, amazing graphics!
Thanks you - and thanks for playing!
Pretty cool idea with the shadow puppets!
Thanks for playing!
