This game is amazing! The art style is great and has a lot of personality to it. The mechanics are very interesting and very complex. I only wish there was an in game tutorial because the mechanics felt a little counter intuitive for someone like me that's addicted to hearthstone/battlegrounds. Thank you for this game!
Wow thank you for such an epic and unique entry into the jam! Very different from all the others so far and really enjoyed playing. Thank you so much!
Amazing game, one of the most polished games in the jam! It was a bit confusing for me with all the different card stats, but that's probably because I don't usually play these types of games. I did manage to beat the boss though :)
I won on first try letsss go!!
It was very fun to play but for starting I was struggling a little on how to play with first boss after reading tutorial but eventually I got the hang of it
This is just very gorgeous in art style and was tactical to play loved it!
there is just one thing that I couldn't move to attacking phase with enough mana or cards maybe I am the cause but eventually I develop the strat to not defend at all or take very less damage then move on to dealt more damange good amount of RnG and very good overall
This was fun to play! I love the art style a lot, it's really neat. The mechanics of the game are pretty solid too, but the one thing I think you could improve on is teaching the player in a better way.
I normally dislike reading long tutorials and like to judge a game on how well it teaches me how to play without the use of an external guide, but I had no idea what was going on initially and had to refer back to the tutorial a few times before I understood it. I appreciate the effort to make the tutorial look pretty though!
The layout of the game is a bit confusing too. I think too many similar elements are spread across the screen and don't really correlate well to each other. Going from under the boss image, telling you how much mana you need, to your card in the center, to the top right seeing how much you had, could all be done in a much more compact and readable area, in my opinion.
Very well done though!
The art style is fantastic, loved the whole thing.
This is super well done overall for a jam game! And has potential to be developed further into an amazing game at some point. Really love the art style and design in general. Feels like the lore and gameplay already has a nice amount of depth to it that one could explore further. I want to see what it would play like if the opponent had the same kind of deck/cards as you. I feel like that could be interesting. I could see it potentially becoming a full-fledged TCG. You could even explore having some cards do extra side effects like drawing extra cards and so on.
You're literally reading my mind! Thank you for such a sweet review and that is exactly what I plan to do with the game. I want to publish it on steam early access over the summer while also expanding it. Originally when designing the game we intended for the enemy to use the same card set as you do, however, we didn't have enough time to implement that sort of AI so, for the game jam, the enemy just does consistent damage. Also, there are supposed to be spell cards as well as effects for certain cards (Such as the mantis healing you) however, again, due to time constraints they could not all be implemented even though many of the systems are in place. Just as you said, the moth bard is also supposed to let you draw more cards :)
Anyhow, we were even thinking of printing the cards into an actual TCG in the future! It's amazing how similar we're thinking hah! One other thing is that eventually the game is supposed to be more like a roguelike where you add and subtract cards from your deck and the bosses (and smaller enemies) would be more varied with their own cards! For example, killing an enemy with a certain set of cards would give you access to those cards for the rest of the run! Also things like the ability to add and remove cards from your deck or find relics which might provide modifications for the rest of the run such as more hp, larger hand size, or alternative card effects!
Thank you as well for the compliment on the art!!! I agree that the art is wonderful and I'm soooo proud of the artists and musicians who worked on the project! Without them this project would just be a husk!
Played on stream in the Discord. It was super fun! I loved how different this one feels from all the other games in the Jam. The art identity is so unique, the mechanics are unique and the music is a bop. 7/7
Ahaha I'm glad you liked it and you appreciate it's uniqueness!
Thank you!
Skipped the tutorial, fought some boss for around 10 minutes, didn't know if i win or lose, loved the game!
The blood, sweat, and love put into this game is clear in all the little details and gameplay from start to finish. It's the kind of game and world you can immerse yourself so easily in , these critters give me serotonin. So proud of the developers and artists who made it happen.
Thank you Vena & friends
nice game
👍
I got to say, the art in this game is incredible, I instantly fell in love with it. Tutorial was clear, I know what do to, but having a tutorial level where you don’t serve the information all at once and gradually show the mechanics one at the time would suit this game more in my opinion. Some cards may need a bit of balancing, but given the time limit, this one is a given, and you dealt with it well! Enough with this negativity though. The music fits your game really well and got me vibin’. Overall, I really enjoyed this one. Definitely one of top 3 in my books!
Thank you for those kind words! It was all a rush and, of course, we wish we could have spent more time polishing but I am so proud of what we were able to do for our first jam!
And yes, the art and music is incredible! I'm so amazed at what our artists did based on just the idea of a bug trading card game!
