Fantastic game! I believe it couldn't possibly get more polished than this. Amazing art, SFX and mechanics. I love that you have also a very strong 'brand' to it.

Jee, give this game a month of work and I can easily see it being a Miniclip-nostalgia tier game. It's already so well done! I was unable to find 2 pieces, in the end.

Amazing work on this!

Well designed and polished game. Tried to get all the puzzle pieces, but couldnt continue after pressing escape :(

Enjoyed the game nonetheless and really had fun playing it.

Yeah, I keep forgetting to disable the quit button on web exports :D Your progress should be saved though, so you can continue where you left off at anytime.

Awesome feature, thanks! If I may ask, how did you do that? o.o

I store all the collectables that have been picked up (puzzle pieces, keys, blobs), the checkpoints that have been activated and the current checkpoint, and every time a new checkpoint is activated or a collectable is picked up, I save that information to a file using JSON.

Next time the game is run, I load the information and update the map accordingly, removing collectables and activating checkpoints, and spawning the player at the current checkpoint.

There's a great tutorial page in the Godot docs about saving games, I recommend you check that out for more details: https://docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/tutorials/io/saving_games.html

Thank you very much for this epic entry in the jam - it ticked all the boxes - concept was great and execution too. Nailed it! Thanks again!

In the dictionary under the definition of "polished" should be just she icon of your game.
Couldn't find all the puzzle pieces tho, but thats just my skill issue.

The art and level design are amazing! I couldn't find all the puzzles pieces!!

Great visuals and well-thought-out puzzles.  The simple art style and particle effects fit the game.  A lot of depth and mechanics for a game jam.

Had to check why so many reviews, and yeah, pretty cool  game, amazing work mate.

Played really smooth. There is a minor bug that trivializes some puzzles, where you can ‘double jump’ by spamming jump really fast but apart from that I couldn’t find anything game-breaking. The graphics were neat and the eye-count showing you how often you can split is a nice diegetic UI design. I personally would’ve preferred if the jump action was bound to spacebar and split used another key but I could get used to it after a couple of accidents.

And lastly I have a tiny critique that is completely negligible, considering its a game jam entry and not a steam release but I think its still worth pointing out: It felt a bit cumbersome to switch to a specific slime when you could divide into 4 and that problem would grow worse if you were to push this game further and allow for more splitting to happen.

I hope this didn’t come across too negative, I think this was a great entry, my mind just tends to focus on the critique side of things more than the praise, ESPECIALLY when I see potential in a game.

No, not at all, I'm quite the perfectionist, so I want to know about every little thing I can improve :D

Nice find with that bug, I never found that. I think it's something to do with how I implemented the jump buffer.

Yeah, after playing through the game again I thought the same thing about switching. It's definitely something I want to improve, especially if I make this into a full steam release, which is something I'm considering.

Thanks so much for the feedback!

It's a masterpiece of a game! The slow introduction to the mechanics and the fast and simple tutorial were amazing! The best part is the amount of polish put into the game. Each of the levels requires thinking, and the small animations that accompany every action are also amazing! The only thing I wish for is a menu where you can view the controls while playing the game. Other than that, great job!

It feels super polished. This is my pick for the winner. Love the "juice" in your game.

This game is a winner. Both in my heart and in the jam too (i hope). Really cute game. The puzzles are so well crafted and secrets are creative as they should be. I am usually the one who brings a bit of critique into the comments section, but I just can’t, because there isn’t anything but praise I have for this game. Amazing job! (5/5 on all categories from me.)
