I love the game mechanic - it combines precise platforming with a puzzle on how to interact with the level. Great idea! I also like the used sounds and the hand drawn art. For precise platforming like that i would polish the controls so the are more forgiving. (coyote time etc.)

Great game I really enjoyed playing and had some fun with. Keep it up, congrats! :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! I actually included coyote time, but perhaps it wasn't forgiving enough... I really enjoyed your game btw :D

Sorry I didn't noticed! But I was also specifically talking about the wall jump :D not sure if I  was clear about that. Nice game anyway :)
Thanks a lot! :D

Developer

Yeah, the wall jump wasn't exactly polished, putting it mildly...

Congrats on the second place, it's well deserved!

The game idea really fits the theme, it's original and interesting to play.
Good job !

You fit the theme, you have nice visuals and I like the idea!

Overall, it was a great experience, except for the controls. I think most players are used to using SPACE to jump, having only the arrows keys was a real pain for me. For the next time, please add more keys. With Godot, it costs nothing adding more keys for each action, and it makes the experience so much better!

Congrats for your submission!

Thank you! Adding alternative controls is on the top of my list for an update xd

Yeah, couldn't go past levels 3 and 4, jumping with up is very uncomfortable, at least to me. As others have stated, wall jumping with up feels even more weird. I really like the mechanic though, the idea of going through the platforming levels by stepping at as few platforms as possibles makes for a nice puzzle creation. I also like the painting like background, it's a shame I couldn't see it all. Good job though!

Thank you for checking it out and for your feedback!

Nice work, as others have said, nicely fits the theme. I appreciated the sfx control options and dings feedback at the start. As others said, I found it quite difficult and couldn’t get past the 4th level. While changing difficult by changing the number of ‘touches’ definitely helps, I wonder if changing difficulty could also change other behaviors too (maybe higher jumps? Or on the lowest difficulty, grabbing the wall means you actually stick there instead of sliding down so quickly?). +1 to WASD from me too.

One other idea, took me a few times dying on level 1 before I realized the mechanic; maybe the counter could be animated or shake or something as you get closer to 0? and some kind of emphasis to show you got to zero on death, vs you just freezing. At first, I thought the game was ending because I landed on a specific tile that was dangerous or something.

Thanks for playing and for all the suggestions!

Funny and frustrating. great idea for a game!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! I'm hoping that after some difficulty adjustments it will be less frustrating, but still challenging :D

that wall jump omg, i heavily struggled... interesting concept, unfortunately i could not get past that wall jump level.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I definitely need to work on adjusting the difficulty... Thanks for giving it a try!

Aaah same! The wall jump is very hard. :D

I was live streaming my struggle lol

This is a neat idea for a puzzle game! I like how it fit the theme At first I really liked the sound for landing on the gold, but after a while I started to get tired of it (maybe because I kept losing on the last level. I felt like your wall jump was too unforgiving. There was no "lock on" to the wall at all, and so if you weren't holding toward the wall when you jump, it would just fall, even if you had already made contact. The other thing that would have helped was some kind of visual indicator that you were touching the wall (like changing the sprite to a wall slide frame or adding slide particles). I really wanted to beat the last level, but I just couldn't get all the precise jumps (50+ tries :tears:). It's possible that with a few more levels in between the difficulty ramp wouldn't be too much. Overall nice work!

Wow, thanks for playing and for being so persistent :D Also thanks for your feedback. Adding some particle effects would've been a good idea

I found it difficult to control the little guy. I like your concept and how everything he touched turned to gold.. The sound was nice. The player felt a little stiff with his movements. All in all a very nice game, I couldn't make it past level 3 on easy though.. :P

Excellent use of the theme, and nice sounds. Wall jumping with the arrow keys was hard for me. WASD/Spacebar controls would have been nice.

Developer

Thank you for playing! The game was supposed to have the WASD/spacebar controls as well, but then I forgot about it xd I'm going to add them in an update

Love this game! The theme was very prominent in gameplay and the graphics were nice too.

However, there were three things that stuck out. Firstly, the controls were only arrow keys. Adding in WASD or spacebar into the input map would have been easy and made the game more fun. Secondly, I did not know which difficulty was recommended for beginners: I tried easy mode and found it very very difficult.  Finally, the puzzles were restrictive: if you could not finish a puzzle, then you could not procede to some of the later lvls. This was a majpr drawback: I almost quit the game on lvl 4 cause I got so frustrated at my lack of gamer talent.

The implementation of the theme, the use of simple but effective graphics, the differing noises when touching different blocks, and the very cinematic ending (so emotional) were all my favorite parts of this game. I could see this game being developed for mobile with a bit of touching-up.

Overall, fantastic game! You clearly put a lot of work into it and you created a fantastic product!

Developer

Thank you for the detailed feedback! I'm very happy that you enjoyed the game. I was going to add the WASD/spacebar controls but then I simply forgot lol. I'm going to update the game and add it. Also, I was actually a bit worried about the game being too difficult and frustrating because I didn't have a chance to do a lot of playtesting. If the easy mode is very difficult, then something definitely went wrong xd

Lol yeah, games are always easier when the creator plays them and not the average joe (me),

Great idea, really like the concept for only a certain number of touches, the wall jumps cool too.

Thank you!
