Intense learning curve, but really fun.

I only made it to the 3rd level.

It needs some instructions explaining how the bullets work, and what the little pickups are for, do they do anything?

Short but sweet execution of the theme, would be cool to see future levels combine the elements like the wheel robot, switch and platforms building on the basic movement if you keep with the game. :)

Liked the flavor added just by having the single graphic of the people watching you, too.

Hoover is a short, quirky platformer I created in 48 hours for the 2017 Game Maker's Toolkit Game Jam. All of the art, code, and music was created by myself within one 48-hour period. Because of that, expect bugs, and don't expect it to las...

This game is far from perfect, but instead of polishing every single bit I tried to go with the theme as much as I could. I tried to think like Ojiro Fumoto, as he was explaining on his GDC performance: "what can I add to already existing m...

Liked being able to move around on the tutorial screen and see what the controls would do there so I didn't have to learn it while being fired upon! Moving around felt like a fun exploration of the area, with enough enemy clustering to keep it from feeling like I could go anywhere I want without being careful. Because of the clustering it made the tunnels feel more like my safe refuge and domain to lure enemies over to before taking them out, though it was a slower way to proceed. But I definitely wasn't going to take on that many head-on! So because I wanted to find the stairs, I ended up just dashing through like a bullet-dodging shmup. :P One odd corner held an NPC wizard (which I realized was a merchant!) but literally on top of them two enemies and a spike ball... but they were able to shoot me through the spike ball. D;

Tricky to control on a laptop without a mouse, though. ;) I also wasn't sure whether the red spiky entities were powerups/items or (as I quickly found out the answer to) threats.
