The programmer art is soooo charming. This game is fun as hell.

How does your game fit the theme?
This game fits the theme in many ways: The story focuses around a character called Count Valente, who travels down to hell to file his taxes. In other words, the “Count” goes “down”. (Splitting the word Countdown into 2 different words.) There is also a mechanic in the last level, where there are “Artificial suns” created by the Demon Corporation. These slowly take away the player’s health the longer they stand in it. In other words, it is like a countdown, because they can only stay in the light from the artificial sun for a limited amount of time. It makes the player’s health "count down”.

Very funny game. I could not stop laughing at it ahah ! The keyboard mapping is a bit weird but I got used to it !
this was really fun and it actually left me wanting more lol
I mean apart from replaying it for different endings
Great game
This was quite well done! Having the attack bound to the dash was quite unique, not something I've played with before, but felt smooth in execution. Story was also very goofy, in a good way.
I had fun with it! I ended up with ending 2/3 (the sponsored one). Some of the movement mechanics (and the knockback you get when you get it by an enemy) feel like they could use more polish, but it was quite enjoyable! It felt like an old school flash game. Great work!
THAT(2019)S IT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT(2019)S TIME FOR ME TO GO DOWN TO HELL!
A really nice submission, enjoyed it enough to force me to replay it for the true ending! With the timers and movement mechanics - and the fact your collision with platforms seems to be somewhat disabled when you are hit, making you fall through them - makes me believe in a speedrunning potential for this game :p
The only reasonable annoyance that I found was that I had to fight the camera instead of working with it - many times having to fall onto enemies I didn't know were there.
A very enjoyable submission to the jam!
Fun game. Simple but well-done. I wish Space key worked as jump too because I kept pressing it involuntarily :D
This reminds me of the flash games I played growing up. Honestly the game loop is there. The art is funny and you've got an actual story with cut-scenes taking place. None of that is easy. I also really like how you did the credits screen. Game wasn't too difficult (which I think is good for a game jam). Overall I had fun!
Thanks so much for your feedback! If I ever make a steam version or just keep working on it, I’ll add difficulty settings (as opinions about difficulty are surprisingly mixed for multiple people I’ve talked to). The cutscenes were a lot of work, but thankfully I made a fully fledged text engine for a different project, so I could repurpose that! I’m glad you enjoyed it and thank you so much for playing! :D
Very nice game, in game credits are a very cool idea that I may do in my futurs jams !!! Controls feel very nice and smooth but some times I would get stuck in an infinite damage loop, bounicng between two ennemies :,(
Really cool game ! It keep introducing new things over the time, making it more and more enjoyable. Maybe the difficulty could be increased a little (I never went past 80/100 HP, and the light thing deals so few damage I could just walk through it and loosing 3 HP), but it's already very fun ! The audio is cool, and the art very good. The story is really fun. Good job !
THE BEST game of the jam. WOW. I was AMAZED. As i always say simple doesnt mean bad. This was very simple, and yet id say excellent for a 4 day game. The art style is amazing, the movement feels good, the story was SIMPLE, FUNNY AND GOOD. I loved playing this game. I normally drop games and get close to the end and not finish them.(except if they are short) But this one i loved. I loved playing this game from start till finish. Now there are things that can be better. The combat should be better. I mean those skeletons were just punching bags, and the onion guy was just straight up annoying. Could have been better if there was some actual fighting stakes. It was a bit too easy but still enjoyed ALOT this game. I can see it going very far in the future. Keep working on it!
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the garlic guy (bc vampires don’t like garlic) is kinda difficult. They spit projectiles every second. I was supposed to make them slightly easier, but I forgot. Oh welllll. The skeletons, fair enough. but sometimes you need an easy enemy for new players. Some of my play-testers did die to the skeletons so I decided to keep them. If I keep working on this (maybe a steam release?), I’ll definitely make the garlic guys a little easier and incorporate difficulty settings (and other enemies apart from the skeleton that are actually difficult.) Thanks so much for your feedback!
I loved this game. The story was hilarious. The platforming difficulty was balanced. Each character shown was unique. Overall amazing job, love the creativity :)
This is wonderful. I love the little story, the level structure was quite nice, and it was quite well rounded and polished overall. Wish I had a bit more I-frames so if I landed in spikes I didn't get hit multiple times trying to get out. Overall this is great, good job :D
nice game! the player did feel a little floaty and the dash would sometimes go off in the wrong direction, you could try to make the gravity higher and have the dash check the current player inputs and flip them to the correct direction if they are not facing the right way and have it just go in the whatever direction the player is facing if no movement inputs are pressed
overall i enjoyed it
A really nice, smooth and tight game loop. Really enjoyable platforming.
I got quite concerned after the first floor as I was down to like 30 life and start to panic, so I am eternally grateful you included the life on kill upgrade.
I love that you made everything yourselves and everything is really charming. I think it's the perfect length of a jam too, doesn't outstay its welcome in the slightest, and there's more content for people to go back and get the other ending. The credits are nice too!
Many thanks!
Thanks so much for playing! The original idea for the 3rd upgrade was to increase coyote time, but I decided last minute that the life on kill would make more sense and be more useful. I’m glad I made the right decision!
I was originally doubting myself about the length of the game, and I felt like I could’ve added more, but instead I did the credits as a kind of “optional level” I guess. Good that I stopped myself doing more! :D
Again, just huge thanks for playing!
So now the taxes follow us even in our games haha! Funny and original art style, and the game itself runs smoothly. Great job!
