How awesome and original, was not what I was expecting but in a good way. As others have said wasn't the greatest playing the same levels over & over but they were pretty well designed so that made it slightly more endurable at least for the first few try's. Well done overall & congrats on finishing it before the end of the jam :)
Neat idea! It got a little repetitive to play the same levels over and over again and the colliders on the spikes are a little janky.
Great original idea that incorporates the theme in an interesting way that is unique from the rest of the jam! The best design decision in this game is the fact that your jumps carry over between levels. It's also a great use of a live system as well -- usually people would see them as dated in favor of checkpoints, but here, it's necessary, as if there were just checkpoints you'd could just die to try again if you thought you used too many jumps.
Presentation is amazing! gameplay was a bit repetitive and exhausting, but other than that really nice stuff!!!
I like the presentation. I think its kinda charming to see it zoom out on the dice in 3D while its re-rolling, I will also say I got the four side level 5 times total including four times in a row. Its pretty well polished and for 48 hours I respect what you pulled off.
Adorable intro cutscene, the randomized levels are a great concept but feel a bit silly when they repeat too much, but I see you commented about adding more challenges to a level if it appears more that once and I think that would be a great solution. The limited jumps encourages finding sneaky ways to use less of them which is fun! Awesome work!
I'm biased, but I still think that animation where the levels fade in and the die face number gets added to your jumps is fantastic.
Great idea with very nice visuals! My only complaints are the hitboxs seemed somewhat unforgiving at times and the levels eventually got old due to their only being a few.
Really creative idea and is really well made, cute visuals too. Only criticism I have is because you have to complete more than 6 levels to win, you end up replaying the same level (I got level 5 like four times but I guess thats the luck aspect). Would love to see more levels or have the levels on each side of the dice change slightly over time so the get harder.
Definatly a unique idea and I had a lot of fun, Nice Work:)
I agree! Definitely feels too repetitive right now, but I'd love to change up the levels if you land on them more than once.
Thanks for playing!
The theme was taken in quite a dramatic direction! Neat concept
Cute game with a nice feel to it! The platforms can be a little tricky to catch if you barely make it and sometimes you don't get to see all the levels because of bad luck, but overall cool game!
This is wonderful! What a clever idea, executed expertly. Controls are nice and tight, having more than one way to solve a level makes repeated levels fun to try out different ways.
Great game!
The audio and visuals are quite nice. The story is simple but is enough for this type of game.
As for the gameplay, the fact that you can have the same roll twice in a row makes the game very repetitive (I don't know if this is a bug or I simply got unlucky but I got a "1" four times in a row and a "6" four times in a row").
The hurtbox of the character is maybe too big (at times, I felt like I shouldn't have died when I did).
Maybe having different levels for each side of the die would fix the repetitive aspect.
Other than that, the character is simple to control and the level design is fine.
The fact that you can save your jumps for other levels doesn't seem to add much to the gameplay though.
thanks for playing!
And yes! My plan was to add more challenges to a level of you land on it multiple times: multiple "phases" if you will. But I ran out of time to add that haha.
Saving your jumps from previous levels was also meant to lead up to a boss fight at the end, where you would need to use your jumps in a special way to beat the game. But that was descoped as well.
But I feel pretty happy with the overall response to this game, so I'd love to add those features some day!
Novel concept, I like the mechanic of saving your jumps through the previous levels, though I think there wasnt much room for error with the spikes, maybe make the colliders a bit smaller. Presentation it was a mish mash of three different styles, cartoony intro, 3D dice and then the 2D tile based level. Though I like the transitions and presentation of the level itself.
I love the art style of the story, and the overall concept! Very clever idea, well executed! I did feel the hit box of the character was to big which made for some (imho) undeserved deaths.. other then that I like it!
The presentation was excellent, and the transitions between the die rolling and the platforming sections was smooth. Adding more levels per face would be a cool addition if you wanted to expand this project more!
This is a very good example of a good Game Jam game. You stuck with a good idea, you didn't overscope (at least I couldn't tell if you did), the character was fun and responsive, the levels were challenging but not impossible, the music wasn't obnoxious, the rymes in the beginning were fun, and the premise was good. Overall you made a great game! The only thing is that I got stuck on level six the most, but otherwise it was fun!
I liked that there was a story! Sadly it was a bit laggy for my computer, but the concept was cool!
Wow, I'm very impressed by all the details you managed to cram in 48 hours. The platforming mechanics felt polished and the tutorial really helped out a lot.
Good job!
It is very polished! The idea is executed to perfection and is very visually pleasing. Congratulations!
