This is a pretty fun game! Love the art style of the enemies. Very inscryption vibes. I found it kind of hard to follow the game play, so a tutorial would be really helpful. I would definitely play more if you had time to flesh it out a bit.
oh god help this game is cursed and I'm worried I am now as well.
I didn't know wtf was going on in the beginning but was vibing.
I think the first bunch of rolls were the enemy turns? Maybe speed those up or give some insight into the gameplay loop before you see the flee, attack etc screen.
I can't decide if it would be nice to have info on how the dice + cards hands + combat all work together, or if it's more fun to slowly puzzle out the mechanics yourself as a player. Either way can't wait to see where this goes!
I like this contraption, certified video game.
I just don't know what's going on.
i enjoyed the expereince, the enemies actually scared me a little when they showed up it all looked so much like a joke and then i was being stared down by three creepy wolves in a dimly lit air duct???? where i didin't understand anything that was going on?? the first time i died because i had no idea what i was doing, and then i all in attacked them in the order that you said, i dropped my whole hand on attack and never lost a single point of hp,, cupcake randomly gained 29 hp and it crashed on me before i could try to kill them, i still don't understand what was going on entirely, but i had fun and the visuals were great, dice and cards flying offscreen everywhere lmao
what da freak?
ok so the art is very interesting and the actual game is really cool too but there's no user input its all just simulated. clearly, you're good enough to make a visually intriguing project. Maybe next jam team up with someone who can do sound design/music or someone who can do game design. if ur gonna go solo, then I think you should start with the gameplay. The first thing is to interpret the theme, and then come up with a concept to drive your game. you should be able to quickly make a small version of the game with no art that's somewhat fun to play. what this feels like is u just kept working on a shaky foundation and made something cool that isn't very fun and doesn't have much to do with the theme. overall it's very cool and I really hope you take a crack at it again. this time with another person or 2.
Ayy thank you for the in depth review and advice!
Also I agree, the game isn't fun, but I wouldn't necessarily blame the game design, I simply struggle with determining how much I'm able to achieve with the given time frame.
Playing this game currently is akin to playing basketball, except there is no ball... and the hoops are telephone poles.
The game is so unfinished that i genuinely contemplated if i should submit it at all. The barely functional gameplay loop was implemented in the last 3 hours after all.
I did consider joining a team, but given my lack of social skills and no real need for help when it comes to art, programming, or audio design (believe it or not), I chose to work on my own. I might join a team next year though, only time will tell.
Also i will probably expand upon this project in the following weeks, to get my initial idea out there.
The arts are interesting. But i realy dont understand how to play the game :(
Don't worry, I don't know either!
