How does your game fit the theme?
I thought of musical scales! In this game, you can build a machine to play music. The machine loves scales - almost as if it was built for it.

This is a really cool game! At first I was confused, I especially wished that we could have more than one of each note on the screen at a time. But then I realized the power of splitters and corner notes and how you could route some of the notes through different instruments and loop back around to hit notes, and the complexity ballooned from there. This is SUPER cool!
The only recommendation I think I would have because expanding this, is putting some kind of in game tutorial that teaches you the use of each tool. It's quite a bit of work but for something this neat that isn't straightforward I think it would help a lot. Awesome job!
Thank you for this lovely feedback! I would love to expand this and a tutorial would be really useful. Definitely the first item on the list! :D
Really cool! Wasn't sure how to hook up the timers, so I think I'm missing something, but this is such a clever idea and fits the theme so well. I could see some levels with goals to make particular sounds or sounds meeting certain requirements. Could be a useful tool for visualizing music theory.
Thank you for this! Unfortunately I didn’t have time to make a proper tutorial, but you just have to place the counter directly on top (as in, the same square) as a pipe (instrument, corner, splitter, etc), and then it will count the number of balls and flip the state of the pipe. Levels with goals would be really great for a puzzle mode, which could also double as a tutorial! Great ideas, thanks a lot :)
A very nice take on the theme!
At first, having no goal somewhat confused me but just playing around was very fun. The only thing I lacked was a 4:4 timer to make a simple I-IV-I-IV chord progression. Tried to built it out of 2:2 timers but failed.
Great job!
Really great point. I was definitely a little rushed so overlooked some important timing features, but I plan to work on it further and a 4:4 timer will be added very soon. Thanks for the feedback and thanks so much for playing!
Uuu, I played with it for a while, and you can do really cool things with this game. Having each note just once makes it also quite a challenge! It took me a while to figure out how the timers work, but when I figured it out, it really opened infinite options. I want to see a more polished version of this game!
Really fun game! Super interesting musical blueprinting type gameplay, fun to experiment with (and break lol), good submission!
I had a lot of fun !
This is truly an orignial and mind blowing idea!
This might be a good tool for someone to learn about notes and logic at the same time.
This is very original! And very fun! Intuitive while also allowing for the player to build surprising complex machines. Had a couple of moments of confusion at first but after a little playing all became clear.
That's an amazing idea and realisation, If feels that I can play with it for hours!
Pure music-programming!
This is a really cool concept! I'm not great at building scales and rhythms, but I think people who are will find this game is really neat! Awesome job!
This was hard for me to wrap my head around. I could have used an example machine to build around.
That’s a great suggestion, I’d definitely like to add some example machines in future once I get the mechanics working more consistently and implement a save/load system. Thanks for playing!
Update: Of course, I cannot update the game until the game jam is over, but I made a couple of simple machines and put them in the screenshots :)
Great idea, I definitely built a machine to a scale! :) I wish the sounds were nicer and allowed for better music, but the idea is certainly worth expanding. Cool!
Thanks for the feedback! I agree with you on the sound quality - I'll definitely keep going and put some work into the mixing and timing. Maybe even turn it into a proper game :D
It is like a mini version of MaxMsp - I love it
i'm not very musical but fun to mess around with.
Ahhh this is wonderful. Had a great time playing around with this. Well done
Fun idea altough my lacking musical talent didn't exactly make the experience good for my ears :). All the mechanics seemed very polished and I was impressed by how many there were. The artistic style is also very nice and charming. Very creative interpretation of the theme and fantastic execution: good job!
Realy nice entry and really interesting take on the theme. Awesome job!
As a music and sound designer, this totally blew me away!!! This is really cool, and I'm impressed you were able to make this in 4 days :)
Thanks so much! It's also my first game so I'm personally blown away by all the nice feedback :D
I wanted to do something with music scales soooo bad but couldn't come up with anything, this is a great interpretation!
A very fun toolbox of music creation. I tried all the instruments, and I kinda wish there was more of them. Still good though!
