Cute game, and easy to understand but hard to master. I would have enjoyed it a bit more if the meters didn't fill as quick. The idea is cool!

P.S. What's up w/ the menus going back and forth? XD

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We were going for that high skill ceiling vibe but there's some more balancing that needs to be done for sure!

In terms of the menus, we ran out of time to create backgrounds for them so we decided to place them at different heights in the background and have the camera woosh between them. Unfortunately the speed of the camera changes depending on your specs (resolution maybe?) so for some people it crawls along lol. Another bug to look into after this is all over!

Wow! This will be my second dish out of 5 stars in all categories! Playing this makes me wonder how many members Shibatoast Studios has, cause this is so rounded and finished, amazin for 96 hours. After realizing the game runs in realtime I understood where the music comes from and could appreciate it for it´s energy, I also hear bit of a mouse vibe in the lead synth. Maybe just make it a ted less hardstyle, a little smaller sounding, less huge, to make it fir the mouse world more. I also haven´t figured out what the mouse orders want me to do yet.

Impressive!

Edit: Wait, after playing a bit more, I think there is a balance problem here (no pun intended). The next tailor costs 6 buttons and the next jeweller costs 9 thread, so each needs the other building to be built before it can be built and you can´t advvance. Am I right?

Developer

Thank you so much for your kind words! It's just the two of us here (one artist, one programmer) so unfortunately we had to make do with the music we could find but we'd have definitely loved to find something more fitting. We agree with you that it doesn't sound very mousy!

The green outline should appear around a building when a quest pops up, and if you build it in time you'll get an extra reinforcement denoted by the speech bubble. We've had some feedback from others that it's not too clear so that's something to improve next time!

In terms of the balancing, this is the kind of game that would require endless tweaks and it could definitely be improved. In your exact situation however, the button price of the tailor increases by 0.5 every time, so for it to cost 6 buttons you'd need to have built 10. This gives you a cap of 33 thread, more than enough to afford a third jeweller. If this isn't the case, you've probably run into a bug - sorry about that!

We really appreciate the feedback!

The second tailor already demands 6 buttons from me right after booting up and starting a new game. Big ups from another 2 person team, I assume you are also still feeling the lack of sleep :D

Developer

That is weird! The second tailor's costs should be (8, 0, 1) so not sure what happened there, we don't seem to be able to reproduce the bug either so it might be platform specific (we've had a few of those bugs). Congrats on finishing the jam though! Just checking out your game now :) hope you get some good rest!

For me on windows 10 the first tailor is 5 0 1 and the second is 8 0 6, while the jeweller is 10 3 0 and the second one is 15 6 0.

Too bad, cause I would like to play this game more!

Developer

The jeweller is accurate but I've absolutely no idea why its increasing the button cost of the tailor so much. Isn't game dev fun! Sorry about that, hopefully it's not widespread and we can track down the issue after the jam.

This was an awesome idea! I loved the premise, art, and resource management aspect of the game. It is certainly difficult, but I won't hold that against it. For the quick time build requests, I think having some text accompanying the image (like "We need a barracks" or something) will help further communicate to the player what build is needed for the extra reward. I only mention this because I found it a little confusing which build I was meant to make. Otherwise, I really enjoyed playing!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, we're glad you enjoyed it! We'll be sure to make that aspect a little clearer if we come back to the game.

Wow, really cool concept! Cool interpretation of the theme. And love the art style!

While Gambit loved the music, and I definitely had a dance, I wasn't sure it fit. Definitely kept the urgency up though!

Great game and really well executed.

Developer

The music is divisive! It's certainly something to put more thought into after the jam, would love to have something just as frantic that fit the theme a bit better. Thank you for your kind words though!

Loved the music! Certainly adds to the intensity of the game and makes me want to build faster. Took me a couple of turns to learn how the game works and what it was doing (particularly, how i could get more points in each of the three main categories). Tutorial was great! Visuals, art and animations awesome!

My one constructive feedback comment would be perhaps to rethink the tutorial part, maybe a tutorial that incorporates playing a tutorial level/game instead and seeing values change as a result of choosing the different blocks? As i found it was easier for me to play the main game and learn experimentally. Although, each player will have their own preferences :)

great great game!

Thank you for the feedback, we're glad you enjoyed the game! We did originally intend to have a playable tutorial but ran out of time :( definitely something to add at a later date!

Impressive art and gameplay loop. Very good game. The music was a bit too intense but everything else was awesome. Very complete game

Developer(+1)

Noted! We got very attached to the music early on and were dancing to it the whole time but in hindsight it probably is a bit much!

Lovely art style and great gameplay! Congrats!
