Nice game! I really like the relaxing design of the game. It was simple and easy, yet I tried challenging myself trying to use as little parts as possible. Think I did level 4 with just 2 pieces, which I enjoyed ^^ The car was spawning at quite random locations which was quite cumbersome, and the driving sound keeps playing after finishing the level. Apart from that I didn't have any issues. Great job! :)
I def need to fix the spawning, thanks for playing!
An interesting idea, nice work.
Thanks!
Cool game! I liked playing it and the idea was really creative! The building system was well made and simple! Great job!
Thanks!
Good job! Car driving is a bit janky and sometimes I have to find the ramp and drive to it, but aside from that I enjoyed playing.
I'm glad you did!
Neat concept, first time turning into the car is a cool moment. Rather buggy but overall had a good time.
Thanks for playing!
Awesome game, explores the theme pretty well
I appreciate it!
Aww I was hoping cool jumps etc :(
building was fun - like other have said though: annoying engine noise that doesn't stop, rotate keybinds, and make the car use physics.
Could be a really cool game and this is a great start toward that.
Great job!
Cool jumps is a must for next time! Thanks for playing!
A cool concept, and the implementation of the building section felt great for the most part. Design wise the only things I'd change are adding a hotkey for rotating the view, and making the car start where it is shown on the grid.
I encountered two proper bugs. The annoying one was that the engine noise kept playing after finishing a level, but this could be fixed by testing the next level then going back to the editor. A funny one was that I was able to make the car land upside down by driving off of a tall platform. The car physics in general felt weird, but totally playable. Overall, nice work for a jam!
Yeah I decided to keep the car flip thing cause it made me laugh (and I was running out of time). Thanks for playing!
The game idea kinda reminds me of Mario Maker. Besides the bugs mentioned I really enjoyed playing!
Thanks!
A lot of work has been done here, the game is playable and fits the theme. As for the problems, I join the comments below. Good job!
Thanks!
Neat concept. I liked building much more than driving actually. I don't want to repeat, what others said already, but the only thing that didn't really make sense to me, is how the car was at the very bottom on starting ramp, but when driving it was suddenly someplace entirely different, and I was like, "WHA?!" :D
But yeah, the idea is fine, but I'd make physics a bit more forgiving - so that it's possible to jump and do other weird stuff (and experimenting with the ramps), since right now - if you complete the puzzle in building mode, there's nothing to do really in driving mode, other than to drive (if you know what I mean).
That's a great point. Giving the car its own unique mechanics would def help to make the driving part matter more. Thanks for playing!
Cool idea and I like the art style.
I appreciate it!
I pretty much agree with all of the previous comments. Fun building puzzle game.
Not allowing me to place a ramp at the floor, *near an existing ramp placed on the floor* was breaking the immersion, however. The car sound bug can currently be circumvented by testing & restarting the level.
Overall, good game! Cheers from a fellow solo developer!
Thanks for playing! Could you elaborate on the ramp floor immersion thing? I added that to prevent people from making their own starting points since placing ramps on the floor would make the starting ramp useless.
Placing a ramp on the floor would circumvent the intended solution, yes... However, there is clearly a ramp that has been placed on the floor, in the same map, implying that we actually *can *place them on the floor... Which isn't true, we are not allowed. That is a case, when the game tells you you cannot do something, while it shows you that you can, creating a mixed message. And in this game, it is obvious why we cannot place them (we'd break the puzzle) but it is also an obvious developer intervention, and feels forced.
Maybe a better solution would be to add a set of checkpoints in the map, that needs to be traversed with the car, before we would be allowed to reach the exit. You can then safely allow the players to build up ramps on the floor. You can even spice up things with having the checkpoints on a timer, or the player needs to haul some items around to activate said checkpoints, etc...
Cheers!
Ooooh I like the checkpoint idea. Thanks for the rec!
I love the dual aspect of building the ramp and driving it!
Thanks!
Really fun game! Impressive work given the time constraints as a solo dev. Some minor bugs here and there but super solid and playable with well-considered level design/mechanics.
Hi evan
Hi amanuel
Hi evan
Great work with the building scene, it was cute and easy to use. I found rotating the scene with a clickable button a little awkward at first, but it didn’t take long to get comfortable.
I liked the music, but the car engine sound (I think?) looped after the first driving section, so I had to turn off the audio.
As for the driving section, the constructive criticism I have that I haven’t seen others point out is:
Hope the feedback is useful! All in all, great work for a jam, especially as a solo dev! I had fun :D
Yeah my friends also encountered those same bugs, really wish I had time to fix them. But I'm glad you liked the overall concept!
Really great concept! The scale difference between the building and car mode was a great idea. I liked the building interface and puzzle elements. As another commenter pointed out, the car was a little floaty but that's a lot to dial in for a game jam.
I appreciate it!
Haha, I don't know why but the perspective shift makes it so much cuter. Really reminds me of playing with toy cars!
The audio got stuck in a loop after the first driving portion, but the gameplay was still good enough to keep going. Props!
Thanks!
Wow, I didn't expect that sudden change of perspective! Very nice concept. The building system is super intuitive
Thanks!
This game is great, would love to see a full-release of it, one thing I would change if you're planning on still working on it, I would change the car physics a bit to feel more realistic and in-control. Still a very great game though.
Yeah the car is a weak point for sure. Glad you liked it!
