Amazing game !!
Truly love playing it. Very fun and creative, I think it's my favorite game for this jam
Didn't expect so much content and clever ideas

Some details:
The rules are a bit inconsistent, you can scale a target if you are above and the target will be remove from the ground.
but when you do it with the red one, the target is not remove and destroy the red barrel.

Also, i stop after i promise, but the last two levels can be solve using one less scaling than allowed

Once I got the hang of the scaling mechanic, the puzzles were pretty good, although I got stuck on one. You should def keep working on this, I think there's a lot of potential in this concept!

Thanks the best animal in existence!

This is a really smart puzzle game, but you NEED to fix the tutorial! I had to scroll through the comments to understand how the game works.

You see, in my opinion, the tutorial fails to teach an important thing: That the number in the top right shows how many scales you have left! I was left so confused why I could only scale once. You could fix this by adding text or even simpler: Don't allow selecting blocks when you have no scales left. With how the game currently is, I used up my first scale and everything worked. Then I selected another 4 blocks, the UI and everything showed up, but I couldn't drag the corner! If the game wouldn't even allow to click on a block I would immediately understand that the game doesn't want me to scale any more blocks.

But besides that, after understanding how the game works, it's a wonderful, smart puzzle game!

I agree. I have since figured out that was the problem and fixed it. I'm just waiting for the the game jam to end so I can update the game

I like your game idea and style, though the mouse control seem a bit hard for me

Love it! It's a really clever idea and the puzzles are well-designed. The only issue is that selecting and scaling feels rough because of lacking feedback. I think it needs some indicator for when you hover over selectable tiles and when you drag across them. Otherwise, very nicely executed!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! I definitely agree with the problems with selecting and scaling, they seem to confuse a lot of players as far as I can tell

Maybe an interesting idea but the click and drag controls were just not working well for me. The lack of any feedback to clicking and dragging made it impossible to know if I was doing the right thing and I only got the scale mechanic to actually work a couple times, heh. I can see the potential in the idea but unfortunately I just couldn't get over the control issue.

EDIT: I was able to get past this, see replies.

When you click and drag, are you sure you have any scales left? Check the top right corner to see how many scales you have left/

I see, I didn't notice that limit at all and the tutorial text was still saying to click and drag, so it just seemed like something wasn't working. I think having the tutorial text mention the limit as well as having some instant feedback to dragging, like selection box that updates while you're dragging and highlights the tiles that would be affected, would go a long way. With that aside, the game is actually very good. I didn't get all the way through it yet but I got through a bunch of the puzzles. A lot of cool emergent properties that come from the core mechanic and I had some fun realizations about how to solve some of the puzzles. Good job, just the one complaint I have is that UI issue, but it's a much smaller issue now that I understand it. I've updated my rating with this in mind.

Thanks so much for giving it another try! I definitely agree with the UI issues; I didn't realise how confusing it might be to a newer player. I'm planning to fix the issues after the game jam is over.

I did not liked playing this game. The way you stretch the world has an insanely precise point that you have to click and it's driving me insane because it would never properly do it.

Developer (1 edit)

May I ask what device are you playing this on and how long have you been playing games for? Also, are you sure you aren't out of scales? You can check how many scales you have left in the top right corner.

Developer

Hey I just updated the game to hopefully make it easier to control. I would appreciate you giving the game another go to see if it's improved enough or not.

Not sure if I'm unable to figure out how to play the game or if it's really buggy. The gray tiles randomly get highlighted with white, I'm unable to make more yellow selections, and sometimes the "moving yellow to white" doesn't even work.

Developer(+1)

The white tiles represents the area after scaling up. To make more yellow selections, right click to unselect and make sure you have more than 1 'scale up' left (top right corner)

Submitted(+1)

Ah, wow. The visual indicators (yellow/white highlights) are a bit weird, but that aside, the game is really amazing!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm planning on improving the tutorial for the mechanic after the game jam ends

Keep me updated! I saw that you're using KNI. I have worked with MonoGame in the past, maybe I can help out :)

Developer

I'll keep that in mind
