Probably my favourite game from this jam, the music actually changing as you collect bards is really neat! Unfortunately it crashed when collecting the microphone, but still, awesome!
Thank you for playing. We are very aware of that unfortunate bug. The microphone was the final collectable anyways before credits :)
awesome fun!!!! great time. thanks for making!!
Absolutely fantastic, the style was awesome, the music, the gameplay, the level design. What an awesome time!!!!
This was the furthest I could get, and since y'all said the end was bugged, I'm assuming this was the end.
Phenomenal presentation overall. The visuals are adorably stylish, readable and always fun to look at. The music goes HARD. I'm guessing it's procedural but either way, oof. Really great stuff. Reminded me of how Ape Out worked.
The game's got some good game feel as well with the animations of the player character, though I kinda wish the red buttons had some sort of audio feedback or something more to indicate that you pushed them. Mostly because I could never tell if I actually pressed them or not.
Also, this might be nitpicky, but I feel like the actual integration with the theme doesn't really affect the game too much ?
i.e I get that you basically need to scale yourself down to actually fit between the pillars, but with the amount of times you need to YEET bards to reach the space between pillars, you're pretty much always going to be small enough by then anyway.
( Also the game said hurl instead of YEET in the tutorial. Since this can be interpreted as barfing bards, I shall give y'all extra points for that )
That said, I loved the pacing of the game. New puzzles and obstacles were being thrown your way just at the right time to the point that I never felt like the game dragged or got monotonous
Overall I'd say that this is a damn good game. Props to the entire team
Thank you so much for your in-depth review! Yes, you made it to the end. The game was a lot more involved with needing to change sizes to fit through different towers, but it was super difficult for most players. And over time/playtests, we just kept making it easier and easier until it ended up where it is in the version you played.
The artwork is very good, but I got stuck for quite a while at the beginning of the game because the mechanics are quite difficult, but overall good job!
Awesome Game, with awesome graphics and INCREDIBLE MUSIC!!! Really well made, I had fun the whole time playing it! This would be a awesome full game, maybe you need to try and collect the bards, and then different instruments which give you different ability's!
This is a really, really fun game! The mechanics seemed really well tuned to be just forgiving enough that you really feel cool just barely making it through some sections of the levels. I think this would make a really fun full length platformer if y’all expanded on it! My only complaint is I wish the theme was more present, and there were a lot of times I couldn’t jump while grounded. Awesome job anyway!
The audiovisual side of things is amazing, no notes. Also, dunno how you came up with the idea of throwing bards, but your process is working :D
I had some issues with the controls - 1. jump not registering sometimes when I think it should (maybe while moving forward through multiple platforms, not sure?), 2. throwing not feeling super great to me, I think that due to the slowdown (which in itself is a good addition) I instinctively used the throw like something I have to charge and that made me press hard on the mouse button often. I dunno, that's just how it felt to me, letting you know.
Really fun! I did enjoy this game and the concept. The only downside I had whilst playing was that the character felt hard to control at times, but otherwise great job!
That's intentional, that's where the challenge is!
Ah, that makes sense, yeah.
I love this. I had a few issues with the physics and sometimes jumping (pretty sure I clipped through a platform by falling too fast into it), but the idea is great and the art and music and sound are incredible. Great job with this!
5* in all sections! I can't believe this game has been created in 96 hours! Truly remarkable! So polished, so good. I enjoyed every bit of it. Well done!
Really polished and fun game! Zipping around with my hoard of bards was fun. I will say there was a bit of a missed opportunity with not having the music be influenced whenever you threw out a bard.
That was very much on our "nice to have" list but we weren't quite able to squeeze it in! Definitely something I'd like to do in a new build!
Honestly the abrupt javascript error jumpscare made the ending very funny I can't lie LOL, still really great game, incredibly polished, bouncing around with the bards is super fun, and the style meter is off the charts. awesome game!
Very cool game, lovely physics
Really phenomenal art and music. Loved how all the instruments had their own melodies and riffs. Gameplay was simple, but enough to be enjoyable. Very polished, outside of that unfortunate bug at the end.
If you dont mind me asking, what did u use to creat those visuals and animations they look amazing!
That's all done with Spine! https://esotericsoftware.com/
it supports drawing aswell?
Hey! I did all the art & animation, and I drew sketches in Procreate, then made the actual art assets in Photoshop with the pen tool, then animated in Spine.
All the jiggling in the rigs was thanks to Spine's new Physics Constraint feature, which is just one of the most enjoyable things to play with, ever. I had such a fun time making the characters bounce around to my music - must've lost at least an hour or two in the jam thanks to that :')
Thanks you so much for your kind words! <3
thanks for all the replies! you should be proud of your work :)
Great visuals and enjoyable gameplay. Some design choices were a bit questionable for me (not resetting the obstacles on respawn) but I assume it was done to make it more approachable. Good job!
It was the intention to reset them on death, but time got the better of us 😂 there were a bunch of things that came up last minute that we were scrabbling to add, change and fix as the deadline came around!
Really enjoyed this! The art and music are gorgeous, and the gameplay is quite fun with the physics-y nature of the movement.
Art was really good, possibly the best I've seen in the jam so far. Mechanics were solid. Gameplay is fun. I did get soft-locked trapped in a box once, but for 4 days work and to have such a great game is impressive! Thanks for letting us play your game and again the art was phenomenal (as was everything, good work on your team's part).
Great game! The art style is amazing lol you guys did so good!
