I would have loved to see a few more puzzles, but overall a terrific entry!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Believe me, I would also have loved to be able to have a few more puzzles

Creating the assets really help this game stand out from those with a similar premise. Amazing job, super polished.  Voice acting was a great touch!

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad that you enjoyed the voice acting and found the game unique

Submitted

Fantastic idea! We loved being able to draw the sprites live! Super polished look & feel.

Developer

Thanks you for playing! Glad you enjoyed it

Really nice idea and It's well polished with small animations. Specially the player character's idle and walk cycles are super juicy. Also I noted small particles floating around which added so much atmosphere. Good Job!

Developer

Thanks! The player animations were one of the first things I did. I'm really happy that I added the atmospheric particles too

Very humorous, clever, and well polished. Love the voice acting. There are multiple ways to solve some of the puzzle, wish there were a reset button even after solving it.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad the swedish accent wasn't too heavy. Letting the player retry a puzzle was something I had on my todo list.

This was amazing! This was amazingly polished, and a great execution of this concept.
Really liked the voice acting and the art, and liked the mix of platforming and puzzles.

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it

This was incredible! The execution of the meta concept was really well done, and I especially like how the sprite editor impacted the world around the player in real-time.  The art style and music were very tastefully minimalist, and the voice acting was entertaining! The puzzles were a fun take on "coding" as well, although I didn't have to use the timer at all for the last door puzzle. Congrats on the submission!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes, the timer puzzle is a bit broken

Fun take on the theme, reminds me a lot of 'there is no game' (especially the voice acing).

Would love to see more diversity in the type 'coding challenges'.

Really cool graphics!

Developer

Thanks for playing! There is no game was an inspiration for sure, but in a platformer perspecive instead of a point and click.

Very interesting game! I didn't understand the drawing thing but it was nice. Really good entry... also good gameplay.

Developer(+1)

Oh, you use left click with mouse to draw on the grid in order to make your own art for the game! And then you can select color by pressing on the colors next to it.

Submitted

Oh! I will try again.

This is a really good entry! Liked it a lot. I had some problems at first because I didn’t knew how to use the arrows, but after that, the game was a good puzzle game with some twists here and there (like the gravity one and “compiling errors”) familiar to developers. Really a good job!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've seen some people struggeling in the beginning, will probably add a extra helping voiceline in a postjam update along with some bugfixes. Thanks for playing

Submitted

Sure, that will definitely help! For now you can add this in the game page, so if someone is stuck can learn about this! Have a good day!

Wow what an amazing game. you left me speechless!

Developer

Aw, Thanks!

Your game is very polished. This is my win hat and win cat.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, nice cat!

I really really enjoy this game, It's full of creativity, the mini game was amazing!

10 OUT OF 10!

Developer

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

A wonderful little puzzle game, and well polished too. Would love to see more levels in the future. I like that the puzzles have multiple solutions, or at the very least the last one did, because I didn't need to use the timer.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm gonna make a full steam release of this that will hopefully be released next year. I just have to finish my current long term project first. (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2434720/Maces_and_Dices/) The last puzzle wasn't meant to have multiple solutions, but I think it helped with the difficulty, so it's good.

Lovely idea,  great execution! The whole game feels polished, and alternating between the sometimes challenging puzzles and the freeform drawing was great to keep it a digestible experience. The voice-acted developer commentary was great. One of the best and most creative submissions I've played so far during this jam!

Developer(+1)

Hey, glad you liked it! I'll be sure to keep the pace switching when turning this in to a full steam release next year. I'm really happy to find out that my voice acting skills were sufficient, this is only the second time I've tried voice acting.

Somebody lied when they said "We created the vast majority of the art during the game jam" --considering we made half the assets ;)

This was really fun! Nice work! I expect to see this in the video!

Developer(+1)

Haha, haven't thought about that. Oh no, I'm a dirty cheater aren't I, letting the player do the work. Thanks for playing!

This game was just lovely.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

What a clever game design!! Congratulations. I'll make a video about it. This game deserves it.

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! Be sure to link me the video here when it's done, I would love to see it!

Hi again NitramiuZ. Here's the video we made. Your game is in the thumbnail. If you'd like to watch it

oh wow, this is basically a more (MUCH more) mechanically involved the beginner's guide made in just 48 hours. i don't even know what to say, this is incredible in every aspect and 100% deserves to be in the end result video. your skill, persistence and dedication shines through in every frame of the game :) absolutely stellar

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thanks a lot for the honouring feedback! My goal is for the full release version to be a story driven game but with a lot of interesting mechanics too, maybe a bit like portal, but with a completely other enviroment and plot

It's more Dr. Langeskov, the Tiger, and the Terribly Cursed Emerald, a Whirlwind Heist than Beginnner's Guide to me, but I get what you're saying (if you haven't played the former, you're in for a treat. Same dev).

Submitted

sorry if it comes off as annoying, but those two games are actually made by different people :P the beginners guide is by the person who made the OG Stanley's Parable (the mod), while dr langeskov is by the team of people who (at least part of them i'm not sure exactly) worked on the standalone version together with the mod's developer

both games are great though :)

(+1)

Ah, thanks, I didnt' know that.
