How does your game fit the theme?
When the player goes through a platformer level (like in Mario) he almost always collects all the coins and kills most if not all of the enemies . In this platformer game however, all of that has already happened. Instead of completing a level you need to go back to it to put all the coins back, reactivate the traps, collect the souls of the fallen monsters and even revive some of them! You can Dash and also wall jump (the game description and settings will contain more details)

A platformer combined with a dungeon cleanup crew is a mashup that I didn't expect to exist, a great concept!

Cool gameplay. Cool looking atmosphere. Liked your color selection as well. Awesome job for a 48 hr project!

I really like the ideia of playing as the dungeon "janitor", cleaning up after the player's mess. The platformer movement is interesting and has a lot of movement options, but I would say it needs a bit more work because it feels a bit floaty.

Anyways, the game is very interesting and has fun movement. Congratulations!

Sweet idea, solid execution! Only complaint is that sometimes controls are a bit harsh. I'd recommand watching something like this for future reference, if you didn't already:

Thank you for your feedback and thank you very much for the video! I haven't watched this one before, and yes, I haven't fully mastered platformer controls yet, but I am getting better and better as time goes on :D.

The movement felt great, I really enjoyed the dashing.
It's quite challenging, but still fun to speedrun through the level.

Felt great to play - Very polished!

I really enjoyed the game. Check ours too

good. I very Enjoy.

The game looks very polished and I love the idea! It was nice feeling like I was on the side of the evil team for once hehe.
I have to admit I found the game a little difficult to begin with (at the part with the glowing white orbs you can jump on), but obviously it's quite hard to balance a game in such a short amount of time!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, the game seems to be a bit too hard for some unfortunately, I will have to watch out for that in my future jams!

This is a fun idea! I really like the vibe of the pixel art and music, and the reclaiming concept works well here and suits the theme perfectly. The jump+dash combo reminded me of Celeste in a good way, and I really like your version of the dash that lets you boost all the way across a room. I think you could get a lot of mileage out of your mechanic where you reset/reclaim more and more traps as you backtrack through the dungeon, and then need to traverse the same area as it becomes progressively more dangerous. Definitely would be fun to play an expanded version of this later if you add more after the jam. Great work on your submission!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your feedback! I was also inspired a bit by Celeste (although I have never played it), I might make an extended version if the game does well enough in the jam (and if I have the time of course).

That's a really strong concept! I love the idea of like a dungeon keeper but for mario games, reclaiming souls and resetting traps. I like that he interacts with the world differently to how a mario would -- that he needs more health to be able to collect souls from spike pits. Maybe if he had an additional power to mario, like a grappling hook, (so he wouldn't need so much health), it'd add some more depth to the gameplay? The controls can be quite fiddly, but nice work overall!

Developer(+1)

Thank you kindly for the feedback! But yeah, problem is I wanted to include some pickable health but I didn't quite know how to implement it in the game's context. Alternatively I could have added a checkpoint in the middle but I didn't know where and didn't have the time. My only solution was to make the spikes deal less damage. (Originally they dealt 50 which was quite brutal.)

I like the controls but those mid air jump thingis are in incredibly hard to pull off

Developer

Thank you! I'm sorry if the game is a bit too hard. I wanted to make it challenging so it feels more rewarding, but I'm still not an amazing level designer, so my levels tend to be rather difficult for some people. I will be more careful with that for my next platformer game!

Nice game, but controls are a bit close together for a platformer (would have liked to be able to use both hands more easily)

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I think you can use both hands actually, I don't know if you have that key but there is another "Shift" key on the right side of the keyboard as well. Also I tried using the left hand for dash and jump (Shift and Space) and the right one for the arrows and it worked quite well.

Simple to understand and satisfying to see everything get restored :)
