Really cool idea! Loved the versatility of the blocks and that when a character was placed within a wall they would be able to walk upon all connected wall blocks. My only issue is that the player walked a bit too randomly, at the end they tried to run away from the map all together and I really struggled getting them back into the level. Otherwise I had a great deal of fun in this game. Good job!

Really interesting and creative perspective. Needs more polish, but OK for a jam game. GG!

Although admittedly janky, the game is overall actually pretty fun! The camera movement is indeed disorienting but it's definitely a good start!

I agree with what another commenter said on the camera movement making it hard to plan (and place) a path for the princess to follow. Maybe zooming out and locking the camera would make it clearer. She should maybe also be a bit slower so you have more time to make paths. Concepts fits the theme though!

Thanks for the review! I am glad that the concept of the game was conveyed properly :).

Yes, zooming out and the ability to lock the camera is possible. I am also thinking about the possibility of controlling camera movements with WASD or directional arrows.

And in regards to speed, changes we might implement could be better AI and difficulty scaling up over time as the princess levels up, moving faster and faster. Hopefully this addresses this particular concern :P.

Will post a small update for the game following the GMTK voting  end!

The concept is pretty good. I think the princesses ai should be less random so it could be easier to predict and influence her movement. Also, you can see the default Unity background when you get too far in the level.

And yes, better AI work was being worked on for sure. This is the team's first game jam, so we had been busy getting the princess to move and the tile-placing system in place, so there's definitely a lot more we'd like to do for the game if we have a chance.

One of those changes would be the difficulty scaling up over time as the princess levels up, moving faster and faster.

The unity background is also a thematic part of the level. One of the planned mechanics is a 'suspicion' or 'mood' meter, and as the player happens to come across these kinds of suspicious or unfinished areas that bar starts to fill and can lead to a game over.

Will post a small update for the game once the GMTK voting is ended!

Cool game, I like the reversal both of mechanics and of the "Damsel in distress" trope, liked the music aswell :) I think it would have been nice for the camera to follow the mouse instead of the princess, she kept pulling me away from where I wanted to click ;D
