This game feels very polished. I really like the scene transitions.

So there is a control, which I forgot to mention in my game. You can actually return at any time in a level to the main menu, if you press ESC.
It is written in the description, but I forgot to make write it in the game.
So sorry for letting you know only now, but it's there!

I enjoyed myself, played for a good couple of minutes. I like the simple sprites and the vibrant solid  colors colors. The flipping screen was really fun and the whole thing felt solid to play. I got a little frustrated that I wasn't able to 'clear' each level segment. There was always one or two enemies left before it flipped the screen. Nice Job

Developer

Yeah, I tried to higher the difficulty to extend the possible playtime, but I didn't playtest enough, so it's propable, that some levels are to hard.
Thanks for playing!

This game is really polished. I especially like the animation and sound effects, they make the game feel really nice to play. Good work!

Thank you a lot!

The whole screen flipping as the roles changed was super cool, and the upgrade system was a nice addition.  Nice job!

Really nice game! Loved the take on Space Invaders and especially the defender-attacker transition.

Some feedback from my playthrough on the browser version:
- Visualization for spaceship health; I picked some "restore health" or "+1 heart" upgrades but couldn't see how much health I exactly had, had to guess from spaceship color.
- Starting from the second alien wave onward, I felt that shooting being limited by energy made finishing the wave really tedius, as I had to wait quite a long time before finally managing to defeat enough enemies. What do you think about adding some energy refill pickups that would appear occasionally?
- Not sure if or bug or intentional, but on the third wave as attacker, the alien enemies slid below the screen before I could finish defeating enough of them. And then nothing happened, couldn't hit enemies below the screen and all I could was wait for asteroids to hit me. Then when I started a new game the aliens started to come down super fast, causing a game over in ~1-2 seconds.

Sorry for the long feedback text, but I really did enjoy this :)
Congrats on submission!

Wow, thanks for your super long comment, great to get feedback, so thanks a lot!
Your first point is actually intended, because I was to busy with other stuff, so I decided to show the player his health amount via the color of the ship and his "breathing speed" (was risky and not the best solution XD).
Then I had also to little time left to make real collectibles, so I decided to make it how it is now, even though I wasn't satisfied with that solution, because of the reasons you mentioned.
And your last point is definitly a bug. Being honest, I barely did some playtesting, so it is normal if a couple bugs occure. Sorry for that.
Though I am super happy that you enjoyed it! It means a lot for me because I am only 16 years old and working passionated with Godot for now 1 & 1/2 years and seeing someone enjoying my game that much is a real succes for me.
Thanks!(Sorry for long message!;) )

Developer

Sorry for replaying again, but I did a mistake replying to you.
It is actually normal, that the enemies are going away if they pass under the screen. Because the game should chalange you not to camp a lot and be more aggressiv. And at that point the energybar gets actually exciting, because as you get aggressiv (shoot, dash, etc.), than you loss energy and it forces you to camp again a bit. Thats the reason why I make the enemies dissapear, though the second part, where you say, that the enemies come immedietly towards you is definitly a bug.
I am sorry again for that long comment, but I hope you understand better what I actually was trying to do.

Very cool! The art and music slap and it is definitely a fun game, but would be interesting to see it expanded a bit more. You already have the screen flip, but it didn't really do enough reversal (for me). Maybe you go from attacking to blocking and reflecting when the screen switches? This could break up the usual gameplay of spamming bullets constantly. I did like the energy bar and asteroids however because they also added more variety, so some more of that would be cool to see. Overall great game, had a lot of fun wit this one!

I really like the 'Take the fight to them' idea. Seeing the screen rotating for the first time was also a lot of fun. Maybe moving the white 'bunkers' to the aliens side during the reversal stage could be a way to make it feel more like a 'role reversal'

Developer

Oh! That is a good idea. It might have been more fitting for the theme.
But it would be interesting to try your idea out.
Thanks for playing!

it didnt work, both my and enemy shots has no range and gets destroyed immediately, when i start the game again they directly go down and finish the game again(at least i played a second time on downloadable version)

Developer

Very strange...
I mean even as a linux user I get to run all three versions without any problems and bugs. If you can't play any of those versions, then maybe try to play it on another device.
Else I have no clue how to solve that problem.
I'm sorry.

The game itself was pretty fun, I liked the flipping of the screen to symbolize the switch between attacking/defending. I feel like there could've been more of a difference between attacking and defending though, as there isn't much change besides the visuals right now. However, it's still a fun game, and is very well polished, good job!

Developer

Thank you!

Fun little game here! Was not prepared for that flipping, lol, very effective variation on the classic Space Invaders. Still not totally sure what the biggest differences between being on top and bottom was besides the asteroids, but still a fun jam submission overall - nice job!

Nice! The mechanics you added on top of space invaders were solid, and the extra amount of polish and animation is great. I don't really understand what happens when the screen flips; I thought I was going to control the aliens. Nice game!

Developer

Thanks! I am glad that you liked it. The screen fliping should symbolise the "Reversement" of the actuall game visually, so that the player gets surprised.
Excited to try your game!
