Yo. I made a top 10 video of the best games I played from the jam.

(Spoiler alert, this game is in it)

Check it out!

Nice Video! Good picks, and I am happy that you liked my game :)

Awesome Game! I enjoyed assigning quests somewhat strategically to different heroes for them to succeed, although that proved to be harder than I thought it would be. The game feels polished, although I found it difficult to keep track of the things happening because of the amount of text displayed in the info panel. Still, Very Well Done!

I enjoyed playing.

Berry Sparklepants is always my last survivor because what a great name haha

If you keep working on it, my only suggestion would be some visual stuff to go with the text.

eg. Small sprites fighting in the background on their quests, or maybe the ghost of the heroes floating up in front of the interface when they die, just to give it a bit more impact.

Thanks!

Great execution of the jam theme! Loved how deeper into the game I became more attached with my adventurer, was legit sad when one of them died.

One of the better "quest giver" games I've seen in this jam, well done!

This is a really good implementation of the "quest giver" mechanic. I liked that the hero's gear changed as they were upgraded. solid entry

Very fun and addictive, great presentation and music was a nice touch.

I loved that after you give a hero some armour or a weapon, you can see them wearing it! Really nice touch. Awesome game :)

It's a really creative idea

I think the quest log could probably be replaced by UI displaying the health of each character with text telling what they're doing right now

I love everything about this! Awesome interpretation on being a Quest Giver. :D

Art and music suit it well, and it runs so smooth. Its got a real re-playability quality to it too! Fantastic work!

Good game, after a while you start to get attached to people you give quests to.

I honestly thought this might be a little boring and have played a couple of similar games BUT something about the design of this one, the ease of use, and speed made this one enjoyable to play. I really felt like I let the town down when I killed all my quest takers lol The only thing I can really suggest is maybe the text part of the game. Obviously it works well for the 48hr limit but with extra polish that could be a view of the battles going on or something. It has a lot of potential. Keep it up!!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yes I had a few things in mind, to make clearer what the heroes are doing.. like fighting sounds in the distance, death sounds, an indicater at the top wehere everyone is, etc. but I had to cut those.

I had a surprising amount of fun with this one, got to 62 quests given before I got screwed with only having +1 heals for 4 fights in a row killing my last hero :'(

Developer

62 is very good! The +1 rewards get more and more likely the higher you get to increase difficulty. Maybe i overtuned them, though - there was not very much time left for fine tuning :).

Submitted

Yeah for sure, balancing and polish are basically impossible in a 2 day game jam :)

Awesome game! The best QuestGiver so far! Well done!

very easy to learn how to play and fun to do it!

i was a bit sad when after a couple minutes of the gameplay i got only +1 health items and it wasn't enough to save my heroes :( i wish there was a good ending as well! (or is it there?)

also i think it's a bit confusing when in the log my hero attacks first and deals deadly damage, but after that the monster attacks me back. that's not fair, I killed him already!

the old-fashioned language style is also satisfying btw :)

p.s. it is fun to play other quest giving games and to see different takes on the topic!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! There is definetly much room for improvments and balancing. :)

When I caught on to the game's mechanics, it became quite enjoyable! I particularly liked the upgrade system and how it's visually represented. Great job!

Great execution - my favourite around this concept so far.

Surprisingly easy to pick up, although the text and game window is way too small

Developer (1 edit)

You are right, I increased the size on the web page. When downloaded, you can resize the window however you like. Thanks for the feedback!

I didn't realize at first that the heroes were finite, and I just sent so many to their doom not knowing what I was doing lol. Complicated concept made simple, nicely done!
