Hey, the GMTK 23 is over now. That means, we now can publish an improved version. In some time Humansters will be updated. So hang on and maybe subscribe us, so you don't forget the "drop".
First of all, that opening track was a great first impression. Also, good on making the things to avoid visible with the red rectangle and such as that could have been annoying. There are some things I would change though. First, the ability to change the volume of the music and sound especially since it did make the music a bit less cool with the rain and jumping sound though I did get used to it. Also, the ability to move the camera could have maybe been nice to see more of the world as you want. This is personal preference, but more lore could have been nice like leaving your cage being a metaphor for something and such. More content could also be nice. Plus, making the multiple jump thing based on collision clearer and maybe even adding a double jump though it would be less realistic.
First of all, thank you for your feedback (that was much to read 🙂). Then, I'm glad to hear, that you enjoyed our little game overall. To come to your "constructive criticism", I want to say, that me and my brother did work quite hard but 48 hours (with maybe 16 - 20 hours sleep) aren't too much and we couldn't implement everything we wanted. BUT: We are already working on an improved game version 2, where everything we thought comes in the game but also everything what stands in the comments. So we are really happy to hear from your ideas for improvement and we will bring every good point into our game. So if you want an "upgraded" game, come here in some time and you will get it (there also will be a Windows and maybe an Mac version aswell)! If you don't want to miss the "drop" of v2, you also can follow PingGames.
Double jumping was already possible, we will make that functionality clearer and easier to use (other users have reported that it sometimes works, and sometimes doesn’t 🙄) in a future release. Thanks for your feedback! 👍
Great concept, and very nice presentation! I love the change of perspective, and the feeling of being so small compared to the world surronding us. Great work!
Thank you!
Very cute game, I love the art and music. However, the walk/run looked a little glitchy. Otherwise, great job!
Thank you for your nice words! Yeah, we were new into Bone-Anmation in Godot, therefore the walking animations could have needed some polish.
It's a really polished game for short time of development! Great job!
Thank you very much!
Nice idea and presentation! Like how small I am and how big the world is!
Thank you! Yeah the idea cam from my brother and he coded and animated everything and I did the artwork (we worked as a team). It was a really fun experience!
haha i love the concept and the comedic theme of being a humanster, good job on the art as well!
Thank you for your nice comment!
This was a pretty cool game, the premise was unique.
Thank you very much!
Nice little game, I love the art style and the comedic aspect of being a "Humanster"
Great job!
Thanks for your nice words!
Great job on the game.
I really like the art style and how you made a fun comedic twist to the game by playing as a human pet!
I didn't really understand how the enemies (hamsters) worked. They seemed to just disappear/reappear randomly? It was a bit too easy to just accidentally run into them since they wouldnt be visible until I got too close :D
Great job!
Thanks! Yeah, the enemies were just a "last minute" idea to make the game at least a bit difficult.
Fun idea, the controls were a little unresponsive, sometimes double jump would work and sometimes not so getting over obstacles could be frustrating at times. This game would work really well with controller support for sure, an it would also be nice if there was a volume slider as the music is set very loudly. Well done though it was fun
Thank you! Yes, there are some things that may miss but after the Game Jam we will launch a new update (where you also will be able to use the hamster wheel).
nice, relaxing game.
Thank you!
