Wow, this is a solid game!  I'm growing tomatoes right now, so I thought the addition of hardening off the stems was a great, realistic touch.  Super cool.

Very creative, original idea. Especially with the balancing part. Also very chill and zen, well executed! Could see this doing really well when expanded upon!

Well youve got a very nice game jam entry here guys. Cool concept pleasing to play around with and a very nice ambiance thats fits the game perfectly and indeed verry impressive graphics /presentation in general especially considering it was all made in 48 hours. Congrats!

fuking how. straight up legit hekin floored that this was made in less than 48 hrs. v cool. defo the best game ive seen come out of this. played for a few hours, tried to come up with different ways to grow and girthen strategically to earn his approval and bear as much fruit as possible like a good little plant. would make a cool mobile game. creative, not just a pre-existing game with new assets. the christmas tree method worked real nicely for me :3

I love what you did there, such peaceful background music, and chill SFX, the tone, in general, is perfection for this type of game.

you went with something a bit tricky and risky, but you nailed it! you got a double 5 stars on creativity and presentation, only small criticism I can give is that it felt a bit boring for my taste, maybe I am just not made for this kind of game

Congratulation on your entry, really solid project

I just can't get over how incredible the background is for a 48 hour game, great job!

-Enjoyment: Amazingly fun to be a plant!

-Creativity: Super duper creative!

-Presentation: The sounds and effects are so awesome, it also has a chill vibe and great graphics!

-Neat game indeed!! Please check out my non-creative entry when you can :D

Wow, this game has immaculate vibes. It's polished in all the right places. All the growing animations are really impressive technically.

Not sure what plans you have for post jam, but I think this could be a great fit for a laid-back mobile game. I could imagine somebody working on their tree a few minutes at a time over the course of a day.

This game is unbelievably well-produced. I could see this being a fully-released mobile game with almost infinite replayability. The art is extremely well-done, and I truly hope that this makes it into Mark's video. I love the animations of the different plant features being added, especially the branch growth. The different nodes on each branch make me feel like I could sit and experiment with different plant "builds" for hours!

I thought I liked my game until I saw yours, now I might unsubmit...

JK of course, but great work!

I have no idea why this is so under the radar. Everything about this game is GOOD. I hope you get into the top 100. Cheers!

Absolutely incredible game. Not too much to say. I wish it got harder faster though - as it is, it is prohibitively long to replay in the context of a jam. It's also not clear how balanced the plant is at any given point, and the fruit may be too heavy. Regardless, this is an absolutely incredible game, and I really do think you may end up featuring in Mark's video!

thank you for the kind words ♥️

I like this concept a lot ! The execution is really good, and that mix between physics and management is pretty unique, I think it really has potential ! You told me you wanted to push the game further, so here is the feedback I can give you :

- you need to clarify a bit how resources work, I was never sure what the water bar was for
- Physics get a bit too unstable too quickly in my opinion, and there are no real clue on how to balance it properly. It felt to me that my tree was quite balanced, but it started oscillating after a while, and I felt I had no tool to fix it. Maybe you could dampen forces a bit more ? Or maybe you don't even need to actually simulate it with the physics engine, but rather come up with a simpler system that you can balance more easily ?
- In terms of gameplay, I was not sure that with the current balance, the fact that it was physics based had a real effect on the way I built things, because I had very little tools to improve the tree stability. I think that to be interesting, there has to be multiple ways to organise the structure, that have distinct and clear pros and cons. It could maybe be solved by balancing though. Imagine if thickening parts was way costlier, but that it would add a lot of weight, but also making the tree way more solid. It would force the player to spend his resources only on the most critical parts, and making structures with non reinforced branches would be made a bit more possible, but still dangerous.

I think that with changing environment, like storms, having a bigger tree hiding the sun, maybe some diseases attacking some parts of the tree, it could be really interesting. I'm quite curious of what you'll do with it, keep up the good work !

thanks so much for the insights.

Yeah the physics wigging out definitely need to be dealt with and I agree there a lot of work left to get the balancing right.

We did play a bunch with it to get some nuance into it and seeing people play it has shown that there's already surprisingly many different approaches that work, I think we just need to incentivize that more and make sure the game is stable when the plant gets more complex.

And we're definitely brewing up more ideas for features, events and abilities.

But thanks so much, really appreciate the in-depth feedback!

This game is so satisfying. It can be played anywhere, anytime and is properly taking away all anxiety. It is also fairly scientifically accurate, using non-trivial algorithms to mimic plant growth, smooth music, day night cycles it just has anything I could think off ! Even the "death" animation sparks joy. Well done ! Thank you so much!

Submitted(+3)

really chill and meditative, I feel like a real tomato plant now!

(+2)

Really chill environment, definitely liked it!

(+4)

Very enjoyable, very cool. Playability is great. What I would add is a method to make later game more interesting. Try to grow bigger fruit for instance. Or grafting. Lots of potential. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yes i agree, we definitely had many ideas that would be cool to implement.
fun fact though, you can actually grow bigger fruit by using the strengthen ability on the fruit, but that just increases your yield.

Damn ok ^^

Developer (1 edit)

I'll add that I really wanted turn this into a genre shift tower defense where youd have to place like thorn turrets to shoot bugs that attack you after you grow enough. I felt it was important for the late game, but we ended up just polishing it more instead. Sad.

Ah don't worry. Still a fun game!

The physics of the stem sometimes were weird, as it seemingly tilted to a side for no reason. Still, cute idea.

Submitted(+2)

I had trouble moving around with a trackpad and the water particles were a bit wierd. besides that great game.

Submitted(+2)

great game, its probably gonna be from the top 100, but the assets feel a bit weird, other than that its great!
