Fan of the balancing act for the upgrade system, and there was a good selection of upgrades to choose from. Very cool
I loved your game! It's by far one of the best looking and sounding games I've seen! I enjoy everything, except for one thing, I'll get to it later. The art was epic! The colors were amazing and well thought of! I enjoyed the story. I really wanted to hurt myself but I would often kill my self by accident :) I'm great at this game ;). My one con would be that I couldn't get past the first upgrade sadly. I look forward to playing post jam! If you have time could you come rate my game? I think you'll enjoy it! I really enjoyed your game and it was very well crafted. GG!
Nice concept and great music -- I also had the same problem when selecting the first power up but I'm eager to try it again post-jam!
A really enjoyable, cool, creative concept with some major flaws
+ Nice art and music
+ Playing as the knight is fun
+ Cool concept and idea on paper
- The browser-version of this game is literally broken and unplayable (at least for me). When it comes time to select the two powerups, only the "select"-buttons show up, the ability images/thumbnails don't. And neither one of them can be pressed on
- The downloadable version fixes this, but even then 'tis not much of an upgrade . . . trying to select the powerups is very janky and you have to press multiple different times the button until it finally picks what you had selected
- Playing as the boss is very janky and unresponsive
- Plus the font is pretty incomprehensible
Nice work. I liked the role-reversal aspect even though I found it harder to be the boss than the hero.
Great work! It was nice to ping pong between the knight and boss. The rogue-like feel spiced things up a lot. I ended up getting past the upgrade screen issue by resizing my window. (I zoomed out on my browser window a bit until I could click on the buttons)
There's definitely potential here if you wanted to add more power-ups and a long-term incentive for game progress. The sprites are also cute and appealing!
In terms of balance, I think the boss tended to be much harder to play as than the knight, but overall both are interesting complements to the other.
Thanks Glad you liked it :) and were able to get past the porting issue (sorry about that) Could you explain how you resized your game to get it to work for others?
Haha no worries bugs happen. I edited my comment with an explanation (I had to zoom out on my browser with my keyboard a bit to interact with the buttons. Although if I zoomed out too much I think the buttons became invisible, so there was a bit of a sweet spot)
the theme is great after the boss is defeated
Some issues with the port size and things being cut off, and unfortunately I also had the same issue as it_rooster below with the first upgrade screen not working. However, I love the concept and the photos you've features really looks like an interesting game!! I'd love to try it once the jam is over and you're able to fix the break! :)
Sorry, to hear about that, I'm glad you at least like the concept. The game unluckily worked on our submitter's computer, so we were confident to submit it as the whole team had played the game in the Unity editor where the game worked fine. However, since the submission time was in the morning and the team stayed up, all members were not able to test it on itch. It was only after the submission time that we realized it was already too late.
Dang, I'm really sorry to hear. We've had that happen in a jam once for us too and we definitely had to learn our lesson. But I'd still love to try it after the jam once you can update it! If you reply to this message once it's done, I will for sure come over and try it and give a review!
Very cool concept!
cool concept, looked good, broke instantly when I got my first upgrade screen lol
